Great value Award Redemption : 2.17 CPP

Wow..

Was just looking for somewhere to go to enjoy a hottub for a couple nights and this hotel pops up that I never see in my searches..

I thought it was a new Marriott buyout because I’ve never seen it before but no.. It’s just that it’s always booked full..

40,000 points a night or $605 a night..
Heck yeah..

Got a free upgrade to high floor waterfront view with balcony.. $868 a night room..
(not suite nights either, they don’t participate in that)

$1736 stay for for 80,000 points!

My best hotel score so far by far..
Atmosphere is a bit too fancy for me though..The restaurant in the hotel is insane..

Amazing deals are out there!

True, although I am not sure what a hotel could do to get me to pay $868/night.

When I look at value I get I never factor in the upgrades, because in theory you would still get that with cash rates too.

Seems like this is a very popular property. There is almost no availability until October, and even then only weeknights. Standard that time of year seems to be 250-300 in cash for about 35,000 points

Nice one, remebered that the Sheraton in Yinchuan, China used to charge people 95 USD for 5,000 points (both taxl. include rates), yet they give suites to everyone and I felt sorry to every extent for those paying cash.

Enjoy those while you can... those redemptions will be nothing but fond memories next year when the point cap goes away.

I once used cash+points for an 11K room for 95K points + 2400 USD. So basically the points covered $8,600 per night. Reservation was for 7 nights.

Heck they are a fond memory already. the cap only applies to standard room redemptions AFIK, there already is no cap on premium rooms. I used to regularly get 3-4 cents per point on a suite in london. Now the same room has gone up in price 500% AND has a higher cash co-pay, even though the standard room redemption rate hasnt changed.

fingers crossed sofr a SNA this christmas!

I had a 5+cpp redemption cause the hotel was sold out but somehow the room was available on points. I did get an upgrade, so that was nice.

I was thinking that while it seems nice to get a great cpp it really is silly to make a decision based solely on that. Was I going to drive 2 hours out of the way cause there was a good redemption? I was tempted, but that just seems stupid.
And if the cash rate is lower doesn't that mean the property is less full, and one is likely to get better treatment there?

If you were otherwise willing to pay $1736 for 2 nights, then you did get 2.1 cents of value.

If you weren't willing to pay the cash rate, then you spent 80k points for a hotel stay that may or may not have been "worth" whatever 80k points is worth to you...

Shortly after the merger, I was stalking availability for one night in a sold out hotel where I needed to be for a special event. At some point, one suite became available at the price in points of a standard room. Fortunately I was able to grab it before it disappeared. The hotel didn't give me any trouble (or even mention anything) about the rate or the suite, maybe because I spent a lot on F&B.
