Strange points reservation discrepancy...
Hi,
I was looking at my previous reservations on the Marriott website when I decided to replicate them without completing them just to see if there's was any price changes since I had done them.
To my surprise one of them at the Renaissance Aruba Resort and Casino that was booked for $25 + 60,000 points was now at $25 + 50,000 points.
So I decided to rebook one at $25 + 50,000 points and to cancel the previous one.
Strangely I'm unable to obtain the deal...
Here's the page results clearly showing the rooms at 50K
So I went ahead with the reservation:
Reservation is now completed.
But now when I look at the reservation in my account I see this....!?!
Deduct your points now (they have not been deducted yet like they usually do) and now reservation is showing $25 + 60,000 points!
I agreed with the reservations at 50k points, reservation was confirmed at 50,000 points, but not in my account... what shoul I do?

When did you make the booking and did you have 50,000 in your account at that time?
If you did not have the points at the time of booking, the price that they will charge is the price per points when you have the points in your account (aka dynamic pricing). The current price is 60K, this is what you are going to be charged. It is not relevant what was the point price at the time of booking, because you did not pay it at that time.

A few minutes ago..., and yes I have ton of points in my account... Also if you look closely at the wordings: Great! You’ve earned all the points you need. Deduct your points now for your stay, they even acknowledge that I have enough points to do it now... It still shows available at 50K on the website as we speaks...
That is probably a mistake on the Marriott site. I duplicated the search - on the main search page it is listed as 60K, when you drill down to the actual hotel page it is listed as 50K. So somewhere in the backend there is an error.
I'd try calling and pleading your case - you might get a helpful agent.

Success, lady was very helpful, she had the same problem replicating, so to offset this she did add 10,000 points to my account and confirm the reservation at 60,000 points.
Great service from Marriott. A+
