Wailea Beach and Resort - Marriott, Maui will be closing on Mar 25, 2020. Had a reservation there and received a call after online check-in that I had to leave early. I ended up cancelling the entire reservation and stayed at the Sheraton Maui instead.

Sheraton Maui - hotel is open at 14% occupancy. All restaurants, activities, and lounges and closed. Platinum breakfast is now 5 take-out options.

The only nominal contact would be with the front desk clerk, and even there you could probably maintain the recommended distance for all but a few moments of the transaction.

My advice - don't do any mattress runs now.
Just not worth it. Who knows what Marriott will look like in a year...

I received several odd looking emails that bordered on looking like spam from OMARC GROUP COORDINATORS from a Marriott.com domain. I have reservations at Delta Kingston pre-booked for several months, which I've been cancelling out to end of April. The note doesn't say much other than its a temporary closure (no dates at all) and to call them for assistance.

Marriott cancelled several of my reservations in April in Spain. When I called to change the dates or to rebook at later dates, Marriott said I have to rebook and pay the current (higher standard and peak) rates....

Not good on Marriott's part.

MVW canceling Cash and Bonvoy Points reservations eff 3/25/20 for 30 days

"ORLANDO, Fla. – March 24, 2020 – Marriott Vacations Worldwide (NYSE: VAC) announced today that due to quickly accelerating travel restrictions and restrictions on business operations as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Company has decided to close all of its North America sales centers for two weeks effective March 23, 2020. In addition, beginning March 25, 2020, we are closing our resorts for rental guests with stays at our branded North America vacation ownership resorts for the next 30 days, and are reducing operations and amenities at all of our resorts based on various governmental mandates and advisories."

This applies to reservations booked using Cash and Bonvoy Points at the Marriott Vacations Worldwide North American timeshare resorts. It does not apply to reservations booked by MVW owners/members using their Weeks/Destination Club Points, including private cash rentals by owners/members.

The Douglas in Vancouver is already closed. The JW Marriott remains open, but is preparing to close. The Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre reduced their operations to one tower, but is also preparing to close.
