Use points for restaurants?

Can I use Bonvoy points to pay for restaurants at Marriott hotels when not staying there?

I suppose you could cash in points for Bonvoy gift cards that you could then use at hotel restaurants even when not a guest. And I'm guessing that would be a pretty dismal redemption value, but we all need to use our points as we see fit!

I suspect OP was referring to this.

Instant Redemptions

Actually, if you look at this, it says food has to be charged to your room.
