Renaissance New Orleans Pere Marquette, French Quarter Area Hotel [Master Thread]
Couldn't find an existing thread on this property in the Bonvoy forum, so starting a new master thread. I stayed here last month during a conference I was attending in New Orleans.
Location & Building: The street with the front door is a bit of a back street, but the hotel itself is located about a minute's walk away from Canal Street and just a few minutes' more walk to Bourbon Street and the French Quarter. Looks like it's an older (potentially historical?) building, which has some charm, though modernized with the Renaissance branding. There's a display of jazz musical instruments in the lobby which was a nice touch. I think the one downside is that there were lots of signs stating that the elevators had a strict limit of 8 people, which makes me think that there may be elevator problems here from time to time.
Room: I stayed in a room with 2 doubles, and was "upgraded" to an executive level room as a platinum member. (The property doesn't have a lounge, so I suspect the main benefit was that it was on a higher floor and had a bathrobe and 2 bottles of water). Room came with a mini fridge as well. The room was pretty spacious and well decorated. Bathroom was fine, and still had single-use toiletries when I stayed.
Property:
The property doesn't have a pool (fine with me, but there are some older pictures on TripAdvisor that show a pool that I think the property used to have). There's also a small business center with 2 internet terminals and printers, with keycard access and is open until midnight. I think there are gym facilities too, but I didn't have a chance to check them out.
Elite Benefits: I don't remember if I was proactively asked about a late checkout or if I asked about it when I was checked in, but I got a 1pm late checkout no problem. The property does not have a lounge, and I was offered the points alternative, or a $15 F&B credit/day. I took the F&B credit and was given 1 voucher for each day - which could be used either at the hotel restaurant or hotel coffee shop (and had to be used in 1 transaction). In addition was also a "VIP Room" for platinum guests, a small pantry off the lobby bar. The pantry had a microwave, coffee machine, bottled water and soft drinks, fruit, and snacks throughout the day (including yogurt and granola in the mornings, and a variety of chips, nuts, and cookies during the rest of the day). This room was accessible via keycard until midnight each day.
Overall a pleasant stay and I would consider staying again if I was in the area, especially if I was on a trip where I didn't necessarily need a lounge.

Have stayed at both many years ago and when the LM was previously the W.The breakfast was just average or fair.
I believe the Renaissance may hold the slight edge there with regards to breakfast
Was wondering how the Renaissance hotel itself has held up and how elite status recognition is there
The Le Meridien previously the W was always fair with recognition

The Renaissance doesn't have a concierge lounge (but rather an elite "Pantry" for platinum or higher guests, and it has pre-packaged snacks, sodas, water and coffee throughout the day). As a Platinum member I was offered daily points or a $15 F&B voucher per day (though not a full breakfast in the restaurant). I used the pantry for a grab-and-go type breakfast a couple days (there's coffee and some fruit, yogurt, granola bars, that sort of thing). The $15 would cover a drink + pastry breakfast at the hotel coffee shop. On a different day, I used the $15 F&B voucher for breakfast at the hotel restaurant, knowing that I'd probably have to pay $5-6 on top of the voucher (menu here to give you an idea of prices - https://www.legacykitchen.com/wp-con...A-Combined.pdf - there's no breakfast buffet like at other properties, just entrees.). Presumably the $15 would cover a coffee + the least expensive breakfast item on the restaurant menu. Depending on what you're looking for, that may or may not swing things in your favor.
I was staying by myself, so I don't know if the property provides 1 voucher per room per day, or if they'll provide 2 (elite + 1) if you have a guest.
Not sure if there's anything else specific you're looking for in terms of elite status recognition. I got a room on a higher floor (they didn't call it an upgrade at the desk, but the app reflected that it was an "executive" room, which gets the elite pantry access). No suite upgrades, but didn't expect one as a platinum, and I had a relatively long stay. Welcome points and Make a Green Choice points posted without problem.

Appreciate the helpful info
I get in @ 12:30 AM
So quiet room, comfortable bed and breakfast quality are the most important aspects to me even if I pay extra
The Renaissance years ago had a club lounge but like may a hotel cost cutting they cut it out

I have decided on the Renaissance and the Westin (higher priced) which as recently had a refresh
The Le Meridien had way to many angry Platinum's and higher.Their breakfast is in Marche which has no menu online and the hotel never sent me one over when requested
When I did a search it seems its more of an event place than a restaurant. The hotel had a fire in May and numerous complaints overall on all websites including Marriott
The Renaissance scored slightly higher and that's saying something as they have very few suites only 4 in the hotel which has to disappoint many elites

Thanks for the post. I am arriving at this hotel tomorrow. I had heard about the "pantry" but not any details. It was good getting that along with the breakfast details. It is disappointing that they do not provide a complete free breakfast as the Bonvoy Terms and Conditions seem to say they should. "When a Participating Property's Lounge is closed, or property does not have a Lounge or approved alternative, the property will offer a daily continental breakfast in the restaurant for the Member plus one (1) guest, or Member can choose 750 Points per day. "
Do share with us your outcome good or bad

Has anyone stayed post-Covid at the Renaissance? Considering this or the AC for a short 1 night redemption of the Amex CC certificate before a longer stay at the Ritz. Priority is clean room, limited disruption (understanding this can't be avoided entirely in New Orleans) but turned off by the recent threads about many in-room roaches at the Westin and major noise issues at the Le Meridien (old W).

Never heard anything great about it and the W was ok back in the day.
The AC may be new but it’s super minimalist and
the breakfast typically poor with firm beds so depending on your needs and preferences

Had breakfast in the restaurant with my voucher. Had to spend a few bucks, but it was fine.
