Quick update: the happy hour is now one-hour free flow daily whenever you want. Still select from a special menu — several beers, wines and a couple of cocktail choices (mojitos!). Also at breakfast there’s a “private dining room” for Platinum/Titaniums...avoiding the crowds of (largely Korean) tourists. And there’s sparkling wine here. Service is still very good/charming AND they have promos for their one-year anniversary — 50% off a la carte dining and hotel rooms as low as $1/night thru mid-June (I checked the calendar and saw one night available — tonite — but more days could open up, I guess) that is is great news about the cocktail hour as originally 5-6pm would be a bit early as we plan to use Danang as a base for touring also separate breakfast area a real plus |

Just had a reply from the hotel and they confirmed drinks can be taken for an hour anytime from 10am to 11pm which makes a lot of sense |

I'll be staying here in October (yes lucked out with that CX F fare glitch) and just wanted a couple of relaxing days before my fights and after seeing a bit more of the country. Sounds like this will be a good choice, though I'm now just a lowly Bonvoy Gold after many years (but not enough) as an SPG Plat. Just curious about the trip to/from the airport.
When we were flying the outbound we stayed in HAN for two nights and did just a few hours in Da Nang at the beach before trip home. Now looking forward to just taking it easy then off to Philippines for a couple weeks and hope to return to JFK on CX F. Any word from anybody on chance of being invited for breakfast as a Bonvoy Gold member? The 12,500 point redemption is incredible but USD $14 pp for breakfast not so much. Also our our flight gets in at 8:55a. Any thoughts on an early check in? thanks in advance. |

The cash rate with breakfast is less than US$20 for two people more than the lowest rate (I just checked). Maybe you could contact them in advance requesting an upgrade from points to a breakfast rate for the difference.
When staying at the Marriott Sky City in HKG on the outbound we were given lounge access for being a gold member as a courtesy when asked about breakfast arrangements. |
As others have suggested above, this place rocks. We are getting the expansive free breakfast with the (mostly) private room. Not quite as good as the Le Meridien Khao Lak breakfast, but still very good. They cover just about every breakfast possibility around the globe -- from congee, to kimchee, to waffles and pancakes.
The "happy hour" for platinum and above is all-you-can-drink for an hour. What a great idea that you can choose what that hour will be, up until 11pm. Theoretically, the happy hour snacks are only available from 5-6pm. But last night, they still had them out around 8pm. Service is excellent, with all the staff lavishing attention on us. Every single staff member has been solicitous and friendly. I'm hoping that's because we're ambassador guests -- because it seems like they pay less attention to the vast crowds of Chinese and Korean guests (we've only seen 5 or 6 caucasian guests here). |
Best Four Points ever
I had a one night stay here a few days ago. (I needed to position to Danang for that lovely holiday present that CX gave us on New Year's eve.) It was about a $4 Grab ride from the airport.
My experience mirrors what many have reported here. I was pre-upgraded to a large corner suite with 1.5 baths (without using an SNA or even requesting an upgrade). There was a bowl of fruit and a plate of sweets (macaroons and things) waiting for me in the room. The one big change is that Happy Hour at Horizon Bar is no longer flexible. Apparently that was just a trial and it was too difficult to administer. So the new hours are 6-7 pm for free drinks. The food stays out much longer though. I left just before 8 and it was still there. I found the breakfast to be excellent and loved the Private Dining room for Elite members. Here is the list of complimentary items for Elites at the hotel:
All in all, a great property and tremendous value as a category 2. |
Had also a wonderful one night stay at the hotel and an other one tommorrow. Both times was pre-upgraded to one of the large corner suites. (First time the one on the top floor). As everyone already said a great hotel and a bargain as a category 2 one.
Just one thing! If you have time, I would recommend to everyone taking the Afternoon tea for 2 instead of the 500 points. It is actually not just tea for 2, but the High-Tea the offer at the cafe. Which was really delicious! |
Love the info below. What status are you? I’m a lowly gold. Would any of those benefits apply?

I am Ambassador Elite. I don't know what the Gold benefits are, but I'll be back there in 2 days, and I'd be happy to ask for you! (I'm currently at the Sheraton Grand Danang which is fabulous, but a cat 5.)

Asked the Manager about the Gold-Benefits and he gave the Welcome Letter so I could post it. Put the letter into the Wiki. Hope that helps!
Have changed our tickets a number of times. Now get in Monday evening leave Tuesday morning. Based on reports, wish we stayed one more night so could really enjoy the property. Will see if can change tickets again. Thanks. |
