Cannot Book Beyond 50 weeks out

Hello

I know that a number of travel sites don't open up future dates on a rolling 365 days (eg BA is 355) but the Marriott website and app has been stuck on 20 December 2019 for the past 2 days. I was expecting a new day to become available as each day passes.

I called Marriott in case this was a bug or the agent could book from their side but I was just told that more dates would open up in 11 days times and until then I could only book as far out as 20 December 2019.

I know that this is only January and I have plenty of time to book hotels for December, but any idea why the site/app are behaving like this? As I say, it would make sense if a new date became available day by day as we progress into 2019.

(I did do a quick Forum search but couldn't find this being raised before)

Thanks

I spoke with a GM about this today and he is frustrated. Many of his guests book Christmas a year in advance. He says many guests the past week have come up to him to book directly - he says he is doing it for old guests but it is a nightmare as has to be via a different system/ process, and he is worried about making a mistake.

He says he has becone a reservation agent with all the unintentional technical disasters with Marriottt and now these intentional limits on booking in advance, ending plat chat, even emails

I think Marriott has done it like this for a while, where the future schedule opens up a week at a time. I could be wrong though.

Marriott has always booked 50 weeks out. Dec 20 is 50 weeks plus 2 days. I don't think this is an issue.

Yes, it was up to 550 days. Being a planner, I really appreciated that.

Wow...that's way in advance. And when i said it wasn't an issue-I meant a system problem. I'd like to book farther too. But the airlines are 330 out. I wish they did a year.

Marriott has always opened 50 weeks out on Saturday night/Sunday morning. It remains on that date until next Saturday nigh/Sunday morning. Checking back each day during the week is not going to get you anywhere.

Check again on Sunday, it should be available through Dec. 27.

Yes, we lost SPG's 18 month booking window with the integration .

For over 15 years I almost always booked my Award stays 400 days or more in advance. Specialty Select rooms were almost always available and later when SNAs were introduced mine had chronological priority.

I wish Marriott had adopted the SPG timeframe.

It is the same for everyone. Relax and check back at the appropriate time.

Yep. In my experience, this is what I have also been told by Marriott reps, and sure enough, it opens up that following Saturday night/Sunday morning. If I recall, it's something like 2 AM, but I don't remember if it is Eastern Time Zone, Central, Mountain, or Pacific.

It's going backwards now. Yesterday I was able to book up to December 20, today December 13!

It's an artifact of ancient software. They can't handle the difference between "this January" and "next January", so they only allow bookings for a single concept of "January".
