Book future Category 8 hotels (85,000 points) at the Category 7 rate (60,000 points) until March 2019.
These were 35K SPG points or the equivalent of 105K Marriott points, with the all suite properties being at least twice that points level.

Save up to 25,000 points per night when you book future Category 8 hotels at the Category 7 rate until March 2019.

I cancelled the booking in its entirety and got back the points I had used.

Got it. So you never just banked the points that Marriott added to your account to offset the higher award price. In my case, they added 75K in points to my account. I'm quite curious if I just cancel if I just keep the 75K lol

I'm wondering the same thing. I can still deposit some extra points in my account to get the award certificate issued. I'm just curious if I have to cancel afterwards, I'll get the extra points they need to put into my account to make the booking.
