New Platinum Elite status not recognized at SPG property?
I think I just have about had it with the new Marriott/SPG program. So not only did my new combined account lost 6 Elite nights from Starwood side and none of my 4 status since August 10th have posted, but now I just checked into Westin Waltham property, and they're telling me that the system does not recognize me as Platinum Elite and are treating me as the general member despite the app and the reservations telling me that they see my status as Platinum Elite? This is about as bad as it can be - stuck in the hotel's worst room and being told that there's nothing they can do to recognize my top-tier status? What is going on????

Marriott IT issues aside, the hotel could have at least recognized your status based on the (valid I'm sure) proof you provided---that doesn't take much to do --I would slam them on Trip Advisor hard, JMO

OTOH Plat isn't top tier and depending on the hotel's guest population, an upgrade could be unrealistic. Still, IMO the hotel should have extended all of the Plat published benefits which aren't based on availability or zero-sum.

Similar thing happen to me when I checked into Aloft Excel London on the 24th no status in their system .. but at least when I showed my status in the app they recognized it... Which basically meant comped breakfast and a high floor room ... Which is all in order...

Just had the same issue at the Westin Phoenix booked last week after the merge. Checked in and properly identified as an SPG member (meaning the number transferred in) but I was a general member, not PPE+A. I only thought to ask because (a) I got the "SPG Member" cardholder rather than the usual Platinum one (b) I didn't get asked about the welcome amenity. I used my old SPG number in the booking and have not merged accounts.
The check-in agent confirmed that he only showed me as a general member. I said I was Platinum and then he fumbled with the system a bit and said he refreshed it and it now showed everything properly. Not sure if that was actually true or just a poker face (and that the system was still wrong).
Either way, it's one thing to much my nights stayed count.. it's a whole different can of worms when you start impacting whether or not status is identified at hotels!

Oh crap, in this whole new merger thing, I realized they screwed up my status as well. I am hard(eg. non-matched) Starwood Platinum member with 77 nights in 2017, yet my status in the new system is Platinum and not Platinum Premier(I guess being used to word Platinum in status I've missed the Premier distinction. I guess another call to Marriott to chase this one down. ARGH!

Same issue for my mom at the Sheraton LAX last week she was originally assigned a standard room with no mention of her status; I had to remind her that she was mapped over from UA as a Platinum Elite (for now) so she went downstairs and they moved her to a room near the lounge.

I checked into 2 Marriott and 2 SPG properties. Both my Marriott and SPG websites show me as Plat. All 4 hotels recognized my Plat status and provided the top perks, such as top floor suite upgrades, club lounge....

Were they made pre- or post- merger? One hotel that was made pre-merger had my status correct, the one booked post-merger had the issue.

The reservations were made pre-merger. First hotel stay started 8/21. When the front staff looked up the reservations, my MR/SPG memberships bring up the Plat in both MR/SPG systems.
I do not think it has anything with reservations, but with the status of the members. Both SPG properties asked for my MR membership and did not use the SPG membership IDs.

As for your 2017 PPE not reflecting on your account, just as a data point, I did the requisite nights for SPG75 in 2017 and my status correctly shows as PPE.
I have to say that I'm really fortunate that I don't have any Starriot stays booked for the next while and have the opportunity to get the popcorn out and enjoy this gongshow, at the expense of everyone else!

Regarding your OP issue, did you happen to have combined accounts prior to checking in?

I see other people did not get prepared for this and chose to fight MR/SPG. There are so many complaints and some want to leave MR/SPG. It is their choice to vent the anger. But it is better to wait out the storms and turn negative into positive. It is just me.
