Are you really staying 180 nights and spending $110 or less, on average?

Not sure of spends are correct, perhaps I'll take the trouble to calculate. Sadly with the new 20K spends requirement likely won't make spends, easily make the nights and would have qualified again on SPG rules.

I will be less polite than BonViveur. 180 nights with less than $20,000 in total spend likely means.... not all 180 nights were in hotels - probably some are roll-overs, some are credit card nights and some are the famous Rewarding Events meetings

OP states they are SPG member. Did SPG do rollover or Rewarding Events meetings?

Probably SPG AMEX points converted to award nights.

Similarly, I'm showing 22 nights and $0. Should be 26 (I've got that screenshot, fortunately) and somewhere north of $11k.

My corporate rate in China is pretty good (I've seen other Chinese teams get even better rates), also I don't think they include taxes and such, so with what the RMB is devaluing to, YES.

The new terms and conditions still allow for any member to be invited into the Ambassador level. You may reach out to your Ambassador to see if they may give you a goal of nights that may still satisfy the spirit of the Ambassador level even if your corporate rate doesn’t allow you to hit the $20K spending threshold.

If you’re largely staying in China at cheaper hotels/rates and presumably only getting the Ambassador perks at those same hotels, it may not be particularly problematic to elevate you to Ambassador service despite missing the $20K revenue mark.

It can’t hurt to ask! Marriott may recognize that you’re still a valuable customer based on your exceptional number of total paid nights, after all.

Otherwise, FWIW, I’m not sure that moving to another chain will ever get you better than Platinum Premier benefits with Marriott, anyway. Hyatt has a terrible footprint there, and it’s Globalist benefit is really no better than Platinum Premier, anyway. Hilton and IHG don’t have anything comparable or even as good, though the breakfast benefit consistency at Hilton may be appealing to some. So sticking with Marriott as a Platinum Premier still gets you about the best benefits you can get, especially in the Chinese marketplace.

Good luck!

Hi Lurkers,

Shouldn't the cash portion of CP rates be included in the 20K minimum spend?

Like Cat 8 properties cash portion of CP rates are well above 200$/night. Would be a waste if it is not included!

I'm also short on nights. Took a screen shot of my activity just before cutover from the SPG site and that showed me at 71 nights, website shows 0 and SPG app shows 65. No idea of the spend is accurate but it has me over $13K

I should be around 70 nights and well over the 20k threshold by now but am also only seeing 25 nights and no spend in my SPG account. Considering it’s almost a week this is a little disappointing - my Ambassador just tells me to hang tight.

Are people having luck in getting correct numbers after combining accounts? Trying to figure out if i should wait until both the accounts are accurate before going any further.

I don't know if there is a more current thread on this topic, but -- I have had a few 2019 stays post to my account already, but when I look at the details of my progress toward Ambassador status on the app, it shows me with $0 qualifying spend. Twitter support claims that spend won't show up until you hit 50 nights. Can anyone else confirm if they're seeing qualifying spend for activity this year already or not?

It's a long way to go before I might possibly qualify for ambassador, but I had a few expensive stays early this year so want to make sure that activity isn't lost toward the total $ count.

Marriott will happily take your money, and make you spend more money to get an Ambassador, but won't actually show you your progress
