The suite was great and may have the best view of any Shanghai hotels. I can totally see them removing this suite from the NUA pool in the future.

I too would happily take a late check-in in exchange for the breakfast. Its very good.

That suite looks great -- and that view, wow!

We will travel as a group of 3 in december. We are currently booked into a city-view loft with virtuoso benefits through a travel agent. As a plat, is there any chance I can get upgraded to a suite?

NUA

I am looking to stay at the Edition between December 30-Jan 3. I am a platinum member, and I would like to use my NUAs. What are my chances of it all clearing or should I break it up?

I had a 2 night stay and was quite impressed by the brand. It is my first time at any EDITION hotel, I must say I love the design of the brand.

The Pros
- Furnishing. The design of the hotel and its rooms is the reason I booked it. I meets my high expectations. I stayed at the loft room, the largest room type that isn’t a suite.
- Attentive staff working with flexibility. I booked through a TA with the usual benefits such as breakfast for 2, 100 USD hotel credit. The staff comped me an extra breakfast on top of the usual 1000 points as a plat.
- Lovely amenities. The Le Labo products are great as usual. We each got an amenity kit to take home. On top of that, we were given a gift card to redeem samples at the Le Labo Shanghai Flagship store.
- Swift and attentive room cleaning. 6 bottles of water were readily available. The staff also tidied up our cables with an EDITION branded cable-tidier.
- Breakfast. It is buffet-brunch style with many Western and Shanghai options available. The spread has plentiful options and the pastries were amazing. I went with the traditional options such as XiaoLongBao and Braised beef noodles.

The Cons
- Quite a busy hotel. No room upgrades.
- The rooftop bar is quite pricey. There is a minimum spend to sit in the sofa seat. It is also too cold in winter.

I visited in December and was shocked there were no heaters on the roof.

There were heaters for the fancier sofa seats but nothing for us plebs. We left quickly after taking a few photos.

How’s the location for a tourist? Pretty walkable?

The property is literally on a major walking shopping street. Yes, it’s a good location for tourism and busy.

Bringing this thread back since I'm visiting Shanghai next year. A few questions:

1. If booking with a STARS agent + Platinum status, does the daily breakfast include the a la carte chinese breakfast options or is the daily breakfast only the western basics? In other words, would we still be charged for the full asian food set with STARS benefits?

2. How likely are they to accomodate special requests if we're booking a Bund View terrace suite (just below Penthouse)? E.g. my wife and I are going for christmas and we were wondering if they'd be receptive to requests to decorate the suite for us. Cash rate is 2.9k a night compared to bund view suite which is less than 1k

Finished a two night stay here very recently. Only saw the lowest level Bund Suite when applying NUAs. NUAs did not clear despite wide open availability and FD confirming that the hotel was "not very busy" at check-in. Ended up getting a comp upgrade into the Bund Loft room as a Titanium which was nice (though I had to ask after the aforementioned FD comment). Staff was polite and attentive overall, hard product is great, location is good for tourism.

Can't comment on other benefits as I booked through Chase's Edit rate. Used my credit at the Japanese restaurant YONE, which has a lovely view but both the food and cocktails were just average (perhaps slightly above if grading on a "hotel restaurant curve"). Service was a bit rough as an English speaker: a few incorrect items, said items not struck from bill initially, unable to respond to some basic questions re: the menu. Not unmanageable though and pretty typical for mainland China.

Overall 7/10 stay and would probably come again.

Car Service pricing should anyone be interested.

Had a recent stay, NUAs denied. However after mobile check-in, room was upgraded to Bund Loft room. Check-in procedures took place in our room, and was told everything in mini bar complimentary except for alcohol. Breakfast quite good, as is their evening dining. Location is great for walkers/tourism. While not my favourite Edition in the world, would return if I should find myself back in SH.

Good experience overall, with a few caveats

Upgraded to a Bund View Suite on the day of arrival due to Ambassador status - with an unfortunately high annual spending due to road warrior status :( Suspect it was thanks to their strict adherence to GXP's upgrade ranking.

Fun fact: the hotel owner Lyu-fa previously known as Lu-neng are quite known for their stinginess (or should I say, strict application of corporate T&C?) As such, you can fully expect guaranteed perks such as 4pm checkout is honoured, but other 'subject to availability' benefits might be hit-and-miss. The JW Marriott Marquis in Shanghai Pudong also belongs to this owner.

Others have explained the features of the suite very well. One thing I'd like to remind future guests is that be extremely careful with the sink / water in the powder room. Make sure you wipe up any water on the floor or you might end up in my unfortunate situation where I almost broke a few bones.

Linen quality is A+++, even better than Capella Sydney.

Curtains are not fully blackout, so if you're sensitive to light then I would reconsider. Nevertheless I consider myself to be horribly sensitive to sunlight during sleep, but I was just fine (perhaps compensated by the great bed?)

Breakfast pretty good. Made the mistake of celebrating Chinese New Year here at the Shanghai Tavern restaurant - horrendous food. YONE Japanese restaurant wasn't as atrocious but certainly nothing to write home about! There's great food in Shanghai -- particularly in the Bund area. I would recommend exploring the Bund BFC (where St Regis on the Bund is).

Oh also finding the hotel entrance can be confusing for first-timers. Refer to the map I attached and call them if you need help.
