Yes, Tim, the German intern, is amazing. But that’s the thing, he’s been the only positive exception, together with the other intern.
Everybody else lacks training. I feel that Tim constantly has to work to fix other people’s mistakes, and that’s not how it should be.
He also told me that there had been a major change in staff recently. Most employees who were part of the opening apparently have left. But I still don’t think that’s a good reason.
For me this whole experience is simply unprofessional and I will not return.
No trash in the water by the hotel — they clean the water and beach regularly, it was during my island hopping excursion that I saw it. Disgusting and sad. Jellyfishes were there sometimes though we didn't get stung, we did avoid getting in the water one day where the warning sign was out.

Mosquitos were the real problem. I took breakfast outdoors the first two days, but by day 3 had learnt my lesson and avoided fresh air. I ended the trip with 30+ bites.

Most of my interaction with staff was coordinated by Tim, which is probably why we had such a different experience. I basically went through him for everything, so it's quite possible he was the reason I didn't experience too many service issues. I could see how the rest of the staff might not be as on top of things as him.

Don't I get a 100 USD compensation when they do not offer ne a Platinum" amenity? How do I claim it?

The use of drones in hotels and resorts is a nuisance and a complete disregard of other guests’ peace and tranquility.

I agree. But how is this related to this thread?

Much less so than bringing kids to resorts. Maybe we should start banning those nuisances. The negligible noises made while flying over the sea and taking off from my private deck sure didn't bother anyone.

People need to take a chill pill and stop being such negative nancies about everything. But eh, whatever, agree to disagree.

So I decided on the RC as despite the negative comments it just looks better than all the other Marriott choices on the island, staying this weekend and will report back.

You'll definitely want one of the oceanfront villas. If you have status, I think an upgrade is a serious possibility.

Can see on the App I’m pre-upgraded to a Beach Villa, might ask about cost to further upgrade if it doesn’t happen then, thanks!

We had beach villa 19 which was amazing since it was very private.
If you can get that, I think it beats the oceanfront (overwater) villas because you’re closer to everything, you have direct beach access and it’s very private.
I didn’t look at the oceanfront villas myself, but judging by photos and videos, the private pools didn’t seem very private. It seemed like you could see right into your neighbors’ pools.
The beach villas closer to the Beach Grill restaurant have zero privacy though, so I’d definitely want to avoid those. Anyone on the beach will be able to see into / walk past your pool.

If they get their stuff together, this can be a great hotel. The hardware and beach are good.
And I heard that service got better after we left (when management was back from vacation...).

But service wise, the St. Regis is hard to beat. I think it’s one of the best St. Regis Hotels in the world, better than the St. Regis Osaka even. But in the afternoon there’s no beach/sea, so that’s not great. The service and food make up for it, though.

No issue with privacy on the oceanfront villa. If you're on the infinity edge side of your pool, sure, you can see the tip of the pool of a couple of the other villas. Nowhere else in your villa can you see any other guests. During my entire stay, I saw occupants of a neighboring villa over by their pool just once.

The beach grill pool has family and there's a lot more people around that area than the secluded backside where the oceanfront villas are. I would seriously doubt the idea that privacy is better over there, though I did not visit the beach villas themselves.

perhaps hotel was willing to look the other way in exchange for glowing review..
normally hotels would not allow drones where they may potentially invade privacy of guests
