Upgrades, or even slightly better rooms with Corporate Preferred?

I've been corporate preferred for a few years since I dropped from Gold. From looking at the posts of the last couple years, it *looks* like being corporate preferred still should get you a slightly better room?

Lately with the nature of my business travel I haven't given much thought to the room I've been getting, but today I'm at the Sheraton Palo Alto in a 2Q room (I requested 1K) facing the parking lot and back of the hotel, with the CalTrain running by my window every few minutes. Is this something that I should have asked about or raised at checkin?

I don't like being whiny to hotel staff about my room, but I felt like I got a worse than average room.

Hi kboo,

Officially, as a Corporate Preferred guest, at the time of check in, you will receive the best available room of the same category that you have booked.

However, I would notify the hotel if the noise outside my room is unbearable, regardless whether I am a SPG member or not.

Is this reservation based on a paid rate?

You should have gotten a King room. You are suppose to get the bed type booked. If you're still at the property speak to the GM. If not call Customer Service.

Unless, of course, it was an award reservation where the room preferences are filled on a Run of House basis.

Yup. William is right. That is why I asked if the reservation is based on paid rates.

Stayed at four pts Vancouver airport and got upgrade to enhanced room as preferred plus member (award stay)
thank you the super nice manager. It's the first upgrade as a plus and status recognized, being asked if late checkout needed. Will go back again

Qulify for two Preferred Plus

I qualified for Preferred Plus through TD Ameritrade and want to apply for the Starwood Amex. It was mentioned somewhere that if you qualify for Preferred Plys through multiple programs, you can call someone and ask them for Gold status. Is that correct and if yes, who should be contacted?

Thanks

That is a false statement.

As much of this information is a little stale, I was hoping someone could explain the current differences between Corporate Preferred and Gold? I didn't see anything mentioned on hte SPG website.

Thanks

There are slight differences in terms of benefits but the upgrade benefits are the same for both levels.

I will update tomorrow.

Gold members receive Elite bonus Starpoints and they can get to enjoy cash checking privileges where applicable. Corporate members would not be able to receive all these benefits

My small business has had a Preferred Business account since 2003. We only have 4 employees but one of the employees travels significantly so he always beats the 50 nights a year. I received a notice that my account was being closed as we didn't meet the required 5 employees. I know that it is the requirement, but when we started they didn't have that rule. Why couldn't we be grandfathered. I was really bummed.!!:td:

Have AAA? If not get it and you will be able to get that SPG status.

Also Amex plat gives you Gold status.

Did having AAA to qualify for Corporate Preferred Plus go away? I just called SPG and was told it was not a current offer, and "they never have done that before". Though I know I had it before.

My apologies for the inconvenience, but if it was me, I'd call back...and ask to speak to a supervisor if the asociate couldn't figure this out.
