Good morning all,
Closing out a one week stay at Sheraton (first since covid and reno). Plat upgrade to large suite on 42d floor. Some photos below (booked entry level room). Furniture is comically out of date, but functional. Breakfast in lounge very good. Service everywhere has been great. Parking across Street (under city hall) quite reasonable, with underground access. In summary, a great stay. So glad it's back and better than ever. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...4f8c16246b.jpg Living room https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...770630fd8b.jpg Bedroom https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...06a6444f48.jpg View from 42d floor https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...2e2fb68d86.jpg View from lounge |
Stayed 2 nights midweek, needed something walking distance to City Hall. Standout was the lounge for a Sheraton incl the espresso drinks.

I've had one of those suites before with the sink the same size as one you'd find in an aircraft washroom.
But the lounge and the views are both excellent. I spent 4 days there at the end of May with my dog while we were waiting for our condo to be ready (luckily in a suite with a larger bathroom/sink)! :) |

Recent trip to this hotel (I'm here a lot -- nearly every other week)
I checked in at 43rd on Sunday and politely asked if there was any upgrades to be had. The attendent was quite nice and said, I have a King Junior -- but its a strange layout -- is that ok? I took it. It was in the Queen tower (first time I was in this tower in at least 10 years!) This means, you have to go down to a crossover floor (or lobby), jump into the other elevator bank to get to the 23rd floor. I nearly missed the door to the room on the 23rd floor, it was really well tucked away just before the fire doors. The room layout truly was strange. I really wish I took photos. But here's the details: - Facing city/CN tower side - Very long hallway into main room, small unrenovated bathroom on the left, hall closet on the right - Main room has TV, safe, mini frig, couch (I assume pull out), easy chair, big windows with 2 end tables, and a floor light - Entry way to the bedroom (no door, just narrow opening), king sized bed, another TV, same dresser minus safe and mini frig, easy chair, floor light, desk, and two chairs Overall, it was nice. Just a bit strange on layout really and "kind of" spacious. No complaints from me other than the annoying factor of being in a different tower than the lounge. |
Local here so I seldom check out Toronto hotels. However, the opportunity arose so I booked my first stay here. Front desk agent was lovely, proactively upgraded and late checkout offered. We struck up a conversation and I mentioned how the Montreal Sheraton club lounge is incredible; this is when the front desk agent said that this lounge and its offerings are even better, the best in North America. Fair enough, I look forward to checking it out.
After dropping off my stuff in my room, I headed up to the 43rd floor. Maybe I was primed by the front desk agent to be blown away, but here were my initial thoughts (wasn't actively trying to compare with Montreal Sheraton but its kind of hard not to):

Had a great stay here over the holidays. Had to pop by and say staffing levels in the lounge were fantastic, so rare to see anywhere properly staffed these days. Everyone in a better mood because of it. We ended up staying for a handful of cocktails a couple times since it was such a pleasant place to be, rather than just grabbing our freebies and dashing.
My room on 42 had quite a bit of elevator machinery noise despite being a few rooms separated from the actual elevators. Didn't notice at first since we checked in at dinner time when the elevators were in constant operation so it was a constant whirring that faded into the background, but over night it became sporadic and was pretty irritating. A box fan was sent up to drown it out which worked fine if you're okay with constant noise instead of sporadic noise like me. |
To those of you, who stayed here recently... is the outdoor portion of pool open in the winter and is it heated comfortably enough to venture outside? This would be the main selling point for me on an upcoming trip to Toronto this February. Otherwise I might stay at the Westin or Marriott near CN Tower again...

Back here for one night and this will be my last. Stayed many nights over the years but I think the hotel needs work. Firstly the rooms are just horribly outdated and quite rundown in details. The small sink, the cramped toilet, the shower over a 1970's bath, and a faucet I havent seen for a long time. Beds are fine, but that's about all. The lobby refurb is weird, there is now a trendy kind of bar which serves interesting food that doesnt match it's description (on a Friday night I was the only person who ordered any food. And $9 for some almonds that came in a jar of dry ice???). A few people came to the bar and just wanted a burger and fries, doesn't exist. There is a serious mis-match between customers and offerings. It feels like they tried to do a W living room concept which is not what this hotel is, and the space doesn't work for it. People seemed confused. And an average martini was $26. I used a SNA and got a suite on the 27th floor facing the CN. But also overlooking some party patio from hell. I don't expect quiet all the time, but this sounded like it would be going all night.I can't imagine how lower floors could sleep at all. I moved to a room on other side (with SNA refunded) but not great. Staff are nice, but the hotel feels like outdated with some lipstick added. Also lots of tour groups, flight crews, and a bit sketchy. I do wonder if Toronto will ever get a really good hotel. St Regis was similarly disappointing. Not tried the W yet.
I would avoid this hotel even though i have always supported over the years. I am wondering a bit what a Sheraton is meant to be and what its niche is. Between this and Nice airport, the only common element is odd :) |
Some updates from my third stay here - though I am far more well-travelled now than I was on my last stay, I still think the Club Lounge here makes the world’s best hot lattes - worth staying here just for the lattes:
I would definitely come back, but I would be shocked if room renovation don’t happen soon-ish. Recent stay at Sheraton
Just finished a 5 night stay with VancouverGal. We were both there for business (separate) so I cashed in a SNA and did get an upgrade to a K suite (may have been a jr. suite.
I continue to be very impressed with the staff at this property - everyone is just a pleasure to deal with. housekeeping and executive lounge were main points of contact and they were a pleasure to deal with every day. For me, there are two reasons to stay at this property, location (which is ideal for me) and the executive lounge, which I use for breakfast and afternoon work space. I rarely use the evening service, but it seemed well attended. Only one bathroom, and living room was ... odd ... there was a TV, love seat and arm chair but no desk. Desk was in bedroom. Layout was quite strange as there was also a longish hallway with closet at the front and living room at the back. No closet in bedroom was a first. It looks like the same layout as Elevator Enthusiast above (xx28). As noted in my previous review, the furniture is comically outdated. The property was built in 1972, and the chairs and armoires would not have been cutting edge then. They have been "modernized" by the addition of multiple after-market electrical outlets (not a small thing). I have stayed at the Marriott up the street, but for me, the Sheraton ticks all the boxes with a price point that works for me (and my clients). I would like to try the St Regis, but can't defend 2.5x the price. It's not perfect, but I will continue to stay at the Sheraton for my Toronto travel. I wouldn't think this needs to be said to business travellers, but ... - the lounge is not your room!. Several people were doing loud sales calls on their phones. It's not appropriate to make everyone hear your pitches, and I'm quite sure your clients would not appreciate you flaunting their private business details to a room full of strangers. Dude from Blackmore Partners - we don't care how many presentations you've done this year or that you will be laying out in Mexico this winter. Get a room! |
I prefer the Eaton Marriott, a more modern feel and the suites are pretty good. I find the Sheraton just too dated now, especially the bathrooms.

Anyone have the hours for the executive lounge? Specifically the evening happy hour? Will be checking in during evening (7pm), hopefully won’t miss out on the lounge that everyone’s been talking about.

99% will stay there before the end of January if you're not looking for an immediate answer... I'm hoping the evening service is as good as one of the nights I had there in 2023, I can still remember the Lamb Chop and Sushi  |
