Ditto to the nth power. A sad SPG day for sure.

On August the 3rd I had set to meet a client partner in this hotel. I walked up to the door which had two very large doormen that looked similar to a disco and who blocked the entrance and asked me for a wristband. They asked me for my wristband again and I was a bit perplexed when they asked me where I was staying. I told them the Four Seasons and they laughed and said "This isn't the ******* Four Seasons" and would not let me in as they said the hotel was closed for a "private event". I walked around the corner and entered from the other side. Really classy Hotel Sheraton.

Sigh, I miss the King Eddy. :(

In fairness, the King Eddy offerings were also predictable and limited.

Still, I too miss this it; always my property of choice in downtown Toronto.

Cheers,

I feel this hotel have very good service and very nice. I check in 8AM, reception block suite room for me and allow me to wait in the club lounge and take the breakfast. Also, I get 4pm late check out.

Having more and more stays here lately.

The Good:

Booked on C&P, which seemed to be readily available on any dates.

SNA cleared for 2 nights. In fact, 2 sets of 2 night SNA requests cleared, although ended up cancelling the second booking.

Great room service fare. Nice selection, well priced, very tasty.

Lounge fare improving. Great lounge service/attendants.

Both TVs newer, with clickers that work! And have 'previous channel' button!

Parked under city Hall for about 1/3rd price of Valet parking.

The Not So Good:

Front desk took some credit for the upgrade (it was SNA).

Signed up for Green Choice during booking, never got the points even though I specifically sought assurances from FD at check out.

Room service no longer offering 'Beaver Legs'! Horrors - one of the differentiating factors in our decision to select this property!

Room lacking accessible plug-ins. Desktop plugs in terrible shape, need repair.

Shower head about one foot below mine.

All in all - a pretty good stay with minor irritants.

Cheers,

Oops...

I am here at the moment. FYI, this hotel now apparently prices all types of rooms with king beds at a $20 supplement over 2 double rooms! I was allocated a club floor room with two doubles, but not a king.

I get to the room and the nice smell of food made me think the hotel had placed a nice ambassador guest F&B amenity for me. Mmmm, I thought, exactly what I needed after the day I had!

Alas, it was just leftovers from the previous guest both in the mini fridge, and above it. A half eaten jar of salsa, some empty packs of what had been assorted dips, and some random used food sachets. When I called guest services manager on duty to mention this I was told, in a pretty blasé fashion, "oops, housekeeping must have missed it while cleaning, someone will come and remove it in a bit".

I was too tired after a 16 hour flight, and also running late to argue or ask for a different room. But I certainly expected a better, and more apologetic response from the hotel. Very apathetic.

That is not the case with my corporate rates.

In general though, I find that the public areas of this hotel are okay-ish (decent lounge and gym, rest very bland) but the rooms are invariably tired, poorly furnished and frequently dirty.

The last room I stayed in had ripped curtains (a rip was held together with a hotel pen), a loose shower knob, a stain in the toilet bowl, two desk-side plugs taken by the hotel's own appliances, and a safety box at the back bottom of the closet.

Unfortunately, the hotel is located perfectly for where I need to go, so I keep going back - begrudgingly.

That's basically it, they KNOW the location is good and are just milking it. The actual hard product (the property) is bleh.

BUT it is good to hear Lounge Fare is (hopefully?) returning to what it used to be years back.

SPG badly needs another option in downtown Toronto.

Me too. Despite the fact that I stay there regularly, the upgrades are very limited.

I have to think that any midsize property in downtown Toronto, if it rebranded under a Sheraton flag, would get a ton of business immediately.

Even a 4Pts to replace the one now gone from Lakeshore. Maybe out on King West or something.

Cheers

One of the worst places I've been to. No upgrade but a downgrade from a suite to a large room. Room noisy with connecting doors and an aircon sounding like thunder. Room was not ready at 3 pm, no concierge service at 9 pm, a lounge with no refill of food offerings and brown water coming out of the shower in the morning. However, in all fairness, after complaining, they paid the money for my prepaid stay back....

an update

The SPG lounge (on the 43rd) has been under renovation, and the work is wrapping up this week....
The lounge occupies the entire floor. All of the windows (floor to ceiling) have been replaced.
The lounge itself is a work in progress. Hot & cold cereals, eggs, croissant and mini-bagels. Lots of fruit. During the am rush, two specialty coffee machines are available (one is turned off during the day).
