So when benefits are denied we - loyalty members - should do nothing due to the pending merger? That makes no sense.

That being said, if I read this right, an upgrade to a suite was given at check-in, so there would be no need to file a complaint with CCS.
Regarding the premise that if a suite was given at check-in it should have been available when the SNA run was done, I'm not even sure where to start. There were no suites that were chosen available at that time or the SNA's would have upgraded to one of them. That doesn't mean that there wasn't a cancellation that opened one up afterwards, however.

Stayed here for a night back in December. Had stayed at the Conrad previously and the rooms were pretty much the same. Reserved a King Superior room and tried to apply SNAs that did not clear. I was upgraded to a King Grand Deluxe and had a late check out of 3pm, however.
One thing that I did certainly notice during my stay in December is that the front desk staff were not overly welcoming or acknowledging of status, etc. From an initial check in experience, this ranks only slightly above the SLS in Beverly Hills (which is by far the worst experience I had with a LC property). Hopefully this has changed in the last three months.
I am booked to stay at the Gwen again this week and will report back.

i'm curious if people have had updated data points on upgrades. I see now that suite nights only are available for Junior Suites. It is truly disappointing that they are being so stingy, despite the fact that it looks like they are struggling to sell rooms given all the availability at such low rates. very elite-unfriendly.

Stayed here two weeks back. No upgrade. 'Pop-up' lounge was pretty disappointing. I struggle with the rooms they offer. I purchased a room with a landmark view and received a room facing west. No landmarks other than a small view of the trump tower if that's considered a landmark...? Will think twice before booking here again.

Bed was quite comfortable. The terrace suites here are some of the best rooms in the city IMO. Otherwise this is just another SPG property, not sure it on level with Luxury collection.

As of 2 weeks ago there was still construction be it unnoticeable to me on the floor we stayed on. Don't expect much from the pop-up lounges...

I stayed on the 15th(?) floor facing west in one of their 'landmark view' King rooms. There wasn't much of a landmark view but I would recommend facing east rather than west.
