thanks

I'm in a similar situation - I'm going to ask for a rollaway to see how much that costs as well.

As mentioned in post #83 when booking with points for 3 adults it adds a 600++ extra person fee. Post #83 also mentioned an extra 400++ for lounge for the third adult.

Thank you! I assume the currency is in NT so if it's $600+$400 = $1000 which is about USD$35. Pretty cheap!

I am looking to make my 6th stay here this coming weekend, kind of on short notice.

My 5th stay, which was this past February, was when I started noticing a lot of slips in service, mainly with the 2F breakfast. There were at least 2 or 3 frozen food items that were not heated properly (one of which was a meat bun), which I brought to the restaurant staff's attention. Also, there seems to be a lot of staff in the concierge lounge but not a lot of straightening up when plates accumulate on tables after guests have departed.
If it weren't for the price disparity between this property and FS, I would have started taking my business over to the FS but I'm willing to give CY another chance this weekend!

This was one of the nicest Category 4 hotels I've ever stayed in, and certainly the nicest CY I've every stayed in. They argued a bit about getting a rollaway in a 2 bed room but other than that the service was great and the rooms were extremely nice. Breakfast and lounge access was free for 2 people (they recorded room numbers to make sure you didn't bring more people in). They did charge extra for the rollaway + extra guest but that was expected and noted on their website. It made for a great points redemption for a 7 night stay in Taipei.

With the new elite program being introduced in August, I was wondering if anyone had any idea about whether the new Gold Elites will get upgrade and lounge/breakfast access? Throughout the thread it seemed that the hotel was giving the amenity to old MR Gold and Platinum status holders even though it was not an explicit benefit in the elite status benefits (in the terms and conditions the lounge/breakfast amenity was only offered at certain branded hotels, and Courtyard was not one of the listed hotels). Are there any future Gold Elites that are planning on staying at this hotel after August? If so, can you give some feedback on whether they still give the lounge/breakfast amenity. If they do, I am tempted to make a push for Gold Elite for 2019 when we might go visit this hotel. Otherwise, my family will just have to go and get breakfast from the 7-11s since there is pretty much no way I can reach Platinum Elite status.

I am going this November. Here's to hoping for the best! Will let you know.

Thanks! I'll look forward to your review. No way that you get bumped to Platinum for August-December? (This would skew the data point. :))

Thanks!

No response after three days, the hotel isn't off to the best start (Marriott also gave me hotel's general email to contact but silence from both)...

Reached out to Marriott corporate after 4 days of no reply. Hotel replied promptly thereafter. A little unpolished so not off to an amazing start but time will tell how their service at the hotel is.

For future reference, she is no longer with the property effective April 2018. Direct emails were not responded to in May.

This hotel is taking the changes from the spg-Marriott merger to heart. When I stayed back in May the Platinum arrival gift was choice of points OR F&B (cupcake and Perrier). They had mentioned back then that that was a downgrade from the previous F&B choice but at least you had a choice.

Effective Aug 18, Platinums only get the points - no choice to opt for F&B instead. This is per the new PAG chart (in other words, they are no longer proactively offering more than they need to).

Considering there has been significant turnover at this hotel, not a good sign for what's to come - probably further scaling back of Courtyards in Asia in favor of higher end properties (as we know so well in USA) and budget cuts

Also interesting: hotel says there is no front office manager.

They say there is an assistant FO manager, but not exactly sure which FO manager she would be assisting ^___^ Likewise, the GM also manages other large properties (namely, the Westin / Leofoo group projects). The assistant FO manager I previously had great dealings with recently left (per my last post), so this lack of management staff may foreshadow some worsened decline.

On the other hand, they have a chocolate fondue machine in the lounge now as a daily offering, so.some positive enhancements to be had.
