Looking forward to seeing this CY for sure. The FS right now is amazing but one thing going for the CY is the blue line, since I have clients in the Zhongxiao Dunhua station area. Nangang would be a straight shot for me instead of having to transfer at Zhongxiao Fuxing
I hope that this CY opens on time and is not beset by delays like the FS. I'm pretty sure the original open date for the FS was this past June (correct me if I'm wrong) and in the end, it did not officially open until September. Even now, the pool is still under construction (albeit in part due to one of the strong typhoons which hit Taiwan) and much of it looks like it's still a work in progress (construction still going on in the lower floors of the building). |
Thanks, barely have 100K so I'm good for 4 or 5 nights
|
The Marriott site is now updated with "actual" pictures of this property instead of the Courtyard building placeholder. Looks nice.
Reservation seems only available for the first week in January 2016 for now, hopefully will open up soon as there are some Taipei trips planned in 2016. Would have been awesome if this place had a pool, but the location on the MRT is better than the Marriott. |
Successfully booked 5 rewards nights in July - looking forward to it

Thanks for the update, Virginia Emery!
BTW I just called the Hotel and also wanted to contribute another piece of update: Plat and Gold will be allowed brekkie in the Executive Lounge at this Courtyard. Hope this helps! |

Hi Sharon,
Thank you for your efforts which we appreciate a lot! As a supplmentary piece of info, I recall from the call that the Courtyard is expected to open on Dec 15. Hope this helps! |

Stayed here Dec 30 and 31. First stay since losing Gold, so no upgrade and no lounge access and no breakfast.
-Very, very modern and chic. No surprise since it's brand new (opened Dec 15). -Very spacious basic room. I would guess 400 sqft. Bathroom is also very spacious. Tub is on the small side. I had a nice view of greenery, and Taipei 101 appeared in the corner. -Service was mixed. Face-to-face interactions were excellent. But front desk failed to deliver phone requests on 3 occasions (they agreed on the phone but never delivered). Seemed disorganized in general. Downside of being brand new. -Room temperature was a disaster. We came home to hot temperature, and only heat was available. In the morning it got really cold, but only cold air was available. -We pointed out these issues to the front desk at checkout. There was brief apology but no hint that it would be relayed higher up. -Location is good. Pretty far from downtown but close to MRT. In summary: nice space, friendly but incompetent staff. |
Thanks for the update. Perhaps the staffing issues will get smoothed out as time progresses/they get settled in post-opening.
Cheers. |
After reading the latest review on this property, I think I'm going to hold off on booking this hotel for the weekend and will book a night at the FS. Hopefully it turns around.

Looks like the Nangang HSR will be operational by the time I visit !!!

Review: March 2016 -Great hotel and staff
Hi,
Stayed here for 2 nights and as all CY that I have stayed in Asia, this was no exception a great one. One of the top-5 on my list of CY in Asia. Location: It is located above the Nangang metro/train/HSL (soon to be) station. On the way to the hotel, I took the long way. Took the HSL shuttle bus to Taoyuan HSL station, HSL line to Taipeh main station - change to the Blue line to Nangang - total travel time of approx 90 mins. I would not do this if you have large luggage - no fun with the crowds at the main station. An alternative is to take the bus to Nangang Exhibition center (once per hour) and than one quick stop to Nangang station. I did this on my way to the airport and it took me slightly over 60 mins (depends on the connection between the metro and the bus) - for those taking this back- get your tickets at the bus company office at the exit from the metro station. Check-in: Reception is on the 7th floor. At the ground floor, there is a concierge desk where they can help with anything if needed. Check-in was fast and everything was ready, took me less than 5 mins to get my keys and on my way. Was upgraded as to a King suite (much better suite compared to the CY Pangyo in Seoul). Room: A very nice suite with lots of room and the sitting room was spacious. Very good layout of the room. Bed was super comfortable and was large, i guess you could even fit 3 average size persons in the bed and still have room to turn. The TV (2) was of good size and great channel selections. One thing (I have at least never seen) was that the tv was interactive - so there was a sort of pointer to do the different selections, etc. Internet: Wifi was free for all guest and even in the public area. Speed was average and sufficient to get my work done. Lounge: Great space for the lounge. One of the best lounge I have seen for a CY - with cooks to cook different ingredients that you can choose. Not sure if they alternate them, but during my stay it was Mongolian style. Other hot dishes was great with always 2 sort of soup on offers. Smaller bite size dishes were great. Happy hour was from 1800-1930, where all alcoholic drinks on offer was complimentary, after 1930, drinks were still on offer, but payable. Lounge attendants were very friendly and efficient in taking dishes away. They were also great in helping to get information or help you in booking trains, buses, etc Breakfast: The breakfast was at the Sunrise all day cafe. Selection was good - consisting of both Western and asian dishes. It was busy but staff was fast in cleaning and refilling dishes. Staff: All staff were helpful, although at times language can be a challenge for some. In general very friendly and always ready to help. General: A great property and with the addition of the location - a place I will return if i am in the area. The local train to Keelung (for the famous night market) runs also through the station. Only complain would be the price, I felt it was slightly on the higher side - but this seems to be the case for a number of chain hotel in Taipei. Cheers! |

Only complain would be the price, I felt it was slightly on the higher side - but this seems to be the case for a number of chain hotel in Taipei. Cheers! Some other things to add. The Double/Double Superior Rooms are large. In my opinion, the beds are not double/double nor queen/queen, they are king/king and still the room is large and spacious. Was offered a jr. suite but needed two beds. Happy Hour according to the listing is 1730 to 1930 with cocktails chargeable after that to 2130. Breakfast is to be taken in the Sunrise restaurant on the 7F (not in lounge) from 0700 to 1030. There is 2 sets of elevators that can get you from the ground floor to the lobby on the 7th Floor. then another 2 sets of elevators to get you to your guestroom depending on the number of floors. 1 from 7 to 19 and one from 7/19 to 30. If you are a gym rat and want to access the executive lounge without switching elevators, i would suggest a room on the 19th floor since the gym is on the 11th. Would be happy to return anytime and at Cat. 5, can use a certificate at this property. |
