Be nice to the UA newbies
Given the new promo between United & Marriott, I expect we'll see a lot of 'newbies' from United posting in the Marriott forum.
Just a gentle suggestion that we be nice to them when they start posting, as they'll be unfamiliar with Marriott. I also suggested to them that they be nice to the Marriott newbies in the United forum.
Cheers.

Thank you for the warm welcome, Sharon.
Hilton Gold & Hyatt Platinum here. I have my hotel stays at Hilton & Hyatt locked in for the next few months, but I'll be hanging out in this forum in the interim, to learn more about the Marriott family........and to brush up on my etiquette on how to defer elusive upgrades and lounge space to "real" MR Golds.

Or, we can be mean and drive them away from Marriott so lounges are less crowded and less people to fight with for upgrades
... just kidding of course

I always think it is good to have new folks, who can then give back by sharing their experiences from Hyatt, Hilton, SPG, etc. It is a give-get.

A traditional part of Marriott etiquette is that Fake Golds always offer to buy a round of drinks for Real Golds/Plats in the lounge. @:-)

Welcome!
Long time no speak! I owe you a drink in a Marriott lounge if our paths cross, following your gracious invite into the IAH CO Club

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone......even those of you who want me to dig into my pockets to buy a round at the over-crowded CL. Maybe if our paths cross while flying UA, I will add you as my companion to give you better upgrade priority.

Actually you bring up a good point. The newly minted UA MR Golds won't notice that the MR concierge lounges are crowded since they are used to the UA Clubs. One reason I gave up my Red Carpet Club membership a decade or so ago; especially the drab and dreary IAD clubs.

Think of all of the money you saved!I just want to report that I've learned a ton just in the past few days of following some of the threads in this forum. Crowded lounges aside, shared information is the real spirit of Flyertalk! And, since most of my hotel stays are on weekends, I hope at some point soon to be able to contribute to SkiAdcock's weekend lounge thread.
