Where do you see that?

The Las Vegas Marriott (www.marriott.com/lasst) says that - I didn't see where it says that on the JW's website (www.marriott.com/lasjw). Michelin's post above says they don't offer free breakfast to Plats....

Two different spots:

After clicking read more:

"Marriott Rewards Gold and Platinum members receive complimentary breakfast buffet daily in cafe 325, our on-site restaurant offering breakfast, lunch and dinner"

Under hotel highlights

"Platinum/Gold Marriott Rewards members receive a free breakfast buffet at our Las Vegas Convention Center hotel"

But, in light of the above posts, just wondering if they stopped this and haven't updated the website. Also, wondering about the weekend practice.

C17PSGR, you are looking at the description for the Marriott Las Vegas Convention Center (used to be Marriott Suites). This thread is about the JW Marriott resort in Summerlin.

Negative. At least not during my recent stay.

I stayed here a few times just before the re-flagging, when it was still the Regent. On two stays, I had one of the ground-floor junior suites with a patio. These are big rooms with huge bathrooms (with a soaking tub that even a well-fed guest can use) - and the patio is an extremely nice place to enjoy your room-service breakfast.

JW Marriott LV Resort & Spa - a mini review

Here is my mini review of JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa:
Stayed here 4 nights after 2 nights at the Palazzo on the strip. I must say I enjoyed being out here on the north west side of Vegas, some 15 miles away from the strip (after 2 night right on the strip though). Nice & quiet was what I was seeking and got. Good place to chill out.

Check-in experience: fast and efficient. Nothing unsual or unexpected.

Plat welcome gift: I took 500 points

Room upgrade: Yes, top floor (6th) suite in the Palms Tower (located in the back of the complex). This suite must be over 800 sq ft. Separate living room with wet bar (in-rrom coffee maker) & half-bath. Large scrren flat panel TV (1 in MBR also). One round table with chairs and a sitting area with sofa and coffee table. Nice wide entry hallway from front door leading to the living room. Master bedroom is entered through a large double-door. Large and well appointed bathroom: separate small toilet room with door; big sunken hot tub; dual vanity. Separate shower. It lives up to resort level status. What’s really amazing is the large walk-in closet with a safe inside. Very pleased with the accommodation.

Overall impression of the coomplex: Good layout with well thought-out landscape and the pool (which still had water in it but no one was using it, yet I didn’t see a “CLOSED” sign anywhere). Extemely nice landscape all over the complex, and between buildings. Large creeks and many waterfalls, all alive and running.

Plenty of parking near each building and the garage (shared with the casino).

Located in the Palms Promenade are several restaurants: There is one Japanese, one Irish pub, a Starbucks; The Rampart Buffet restaurant, and Spiedini Ristorante (Italian). Ceres was running a $20.09 three course dinner. Good service & food!.

Golfers will love this place as it is close to several good courses. Hotel runs a free shuttle to/from any of the nearby courses. When I was there, the temp was between low 30’s at night to low 40’s during day. Bluuuuurrr !
The shuttle will also take you to the strip (and pick up at the Fashion Show Mall).

Did not check out the gym. The Aquae Sulis European spa and salon though smallish, is luxurious and the service very friendly and good.

Like majority of resorts, there is no CL here. No comp’d breakfast (none was expected). Hotel guest can use the computer in the business center for free, print boarding pass etc..

I will return again in the summer.

Too far from the city

Hotel is nice, but too far from the action in Las Vegas. It's a loooong haul in to town if you want to go to the Strip for dinner, gambling, shopping. The front desk promised me my dry cleaning would be back if I turned it in early morning - which I did. It didn't come back - which was no tragedy, but then they argued with me saying that they had not promised me the return of the dry cleaning. As much time as I spend on the road (and with Marriott), I just don't appreciate these folks arguing with me after a long day. I finally cited the name of the person I spoke with - and they apologized and gave me a free weekend certificate for 2 nights at a future date - very nice, but I don't want to go back.

JW Marriott, Las Vegas

My wife and I are soon going to celebrating our tenth wedding anniversary and were looking for a nice, domestic, place to go for four days.

Since I'm already in Vegas for a convention early next year, I'm looking at the JW Las Vegas.

Anyone stay there and have an opinion of either the junior or full suite? Spa? Other amenities of the hotel?

I'm sure there are nicer and flashier hotels.... But oh to use the rewards points instead of $500 per night :-)

Thanks!

There are a few older threads on subject property, eg:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marri...w-updates.html

From my stay almost 11 months ago, I found this property and location to be ideal for a quiet "chill-out" type of vacation. We did not use the spa, but were invited to tour it. It looked great with friendly staff. Love the nearby golf opportunities (3 courses nearby). As Plt, got upgrade to a large suite. They treated me fine.

Others with more recent experience can chime in.

Stayed there last month. Rooms are nice and is a quiet hotel, away from the strip. It is very nice. Just be warned, the suites they show on the website are not available. The suites are nice but not as nice as the pictures show.

That is absolutely not true. We have stayed at this hotel for 1-3 days each time 4 times. Three of those times we were placed in the two bedroom suite, another time we were placed in the 1 bedroom suite. The One Bedroom is ROUTINELY available in the menu list if you book ahead a little. If you are a platnium or even better, a platinum premier, make your reservation and call ahead to the hotel. The manager(s) and request a specific upgrade to the 1 Bedroom or 2 Bedroom.

I stayed here perhaps 3 years ago, as a platinum I was upgraded to a suite (I think, either that or their standard rooms are really great) - best part I remember was a superb large hot-tub with bubble machine in the already large bathroom.

I think for a Vegas hotel its great for a slightly romantic, off-strip getaway and a good use of points. The pool area was also nice and the hotel even has an attached casino for bits of entertainment. As such I think you're making a sound choice. Unfortunately can't give a view between 1 and 2 bedroom suites - except that the 1 bedroom one was perfectly sufficient for me and my wife.

Thanks to everyone for their feedback. It's very much appreciated. Made our reservations last night. I figure I'll wait a bit to call and ask for the upgrade since the trip isn't until mid April.

Thanks again

Excellent information. I am going next spring and was debating if I wanted to go here. Easy decision with the post. I am happy to see the 175 nights to get Plat Prem pay off.

Anyone know if the exec lounge is open on the weekend at the JW Marriott, or is there an exec lounge? If not, are the brekkie coupons? If not, is it key accessible for sodas/water? Is there free wifi or i-net terminals? Please post & I'll update the exec lounge sticky.

Cheers.
