Courtyard Pilsen, Czech Republic [Master Thread]
I completed a 1-night stay here in December '10. Hotel is quite new and well-located in the city center. Its about a 5-10 minute walk to the most important attraction in town...the historic Pilsner Urquell brewery which is quite cool. The main square/parish church are pretty nice and the center is ok...nothing spectacular. It IS a good basing point for Marianske lazne, Karlovy Vary, or Loket (think the casino town(s) from the James Bond movie Casino Royal) and these can easily be done in 1 or 2 day trips (depends on your pacing).
The hotel itself. As I said, it looks pretty new and the fit-out is to a good spec...think most new Courtyards in Europe. Underground parking. Got the welcome gift as Platinum (points this time) but no upgrades just a normal room. Hotel has a nice-looking restaurant on the ground floor but was empty so we only ate there for breakfast. Service at breakfast was atrocious though but the food offer was quite good. Room was sizable and had all the standard accouterments you'd expect at a good CY.
One other tip, we read on tripadvisor that there was a nice restaurant across from the hotel attached to a museum. Went to check it out and it turned out to be a great find...huge portions, great prices, waiter had alot of character (but not much English), and a VERY local crowd. Definitely check it out if you're staying there.
I'd recommend it as a comfortable basing point for the area and no real problems save the bad breakfast staff (the front desk staff were top-notch though).
It is located very close to the center square, opposite the hotel is the best pub in town at the Brewery museum. Here is the only place they serve unfiltered "original" Pilsen Urquell (besides in the Brewery) the food here is really good as well, if you like Czech food.
You can walk from the hotel virtually everywhere, the Pilsner Urquell/Gambrinus Brewery is about a 5-10 minute walk. A tour is highly recommended , also do a tour of the tunnels under the city.
Pilsen is a fun city for one or two days, but not more than that. There is not too much to do besides drinking very good and extremely cheap beer! We should organize a do here once, I think most fters would like it.
The room was fine, pretty standard, decent size. Lobby is pretty nice.
There's a great local restaurant near the hotel - U Mansfelda I think. It was fantastic, and so close to the hotel.

Check In
I used the app check in and arrived about the time that I had chosen. Even if you choose the electronic keys, you will still have to go to the reception to have your ID's registered.
Otherwise the registration forms had been prepared and I just needed one signature.
We had booked a one-night reservation for the standard room and were upgraded to a superior room. I believe the superior room just had a better view of the city than other rooms.
I was offered a 20 USD F&B credit or points as my amenity. Breakfast was included, i believe because of my Titanium status.
The hotel has 7 floors, although it seems from the elevator that rooms are only available until the sixth floow. I am not even sure what shold be on the 7th.
Location
The hotel is conveniently located near the tourist attractions of the city. For beer fans, it is right next to the beer brewery/museum, where locals say you can get the absolutely best tastin Pilsener Urquell.
This city is walkable and almost everything including the train station can be reached under 20 minutes walking. Most things are 5-10 minutes walk away. The city is beautiful, so you will not even notice the walking time.
Room
I only took a couple of pictures of the room. It met my expectations for a Courtyard hotel. No particularly positives or negatives - comfortable bed, nice view of the city, ample space, functional furnishing.
Plenty of towels, good water pressure
Decent view of the city
When we returned to the room later in the day, we discovered a hadnwritten welcome note, a bag of mixed fruits and nuts and two vouchers for a free drink and desert in the hotel bar. Unfortunately we did not have time to use the vouchers, as our local friends had fed us enought of the local beer before we got back to the hotel.
We did also find enough free outlets for charging our devices. I did not notice any USB-A or C charging points. I guess this hotel is already about 11 years old, so they were not around yet when this one was built.
Dining
We did opt for the breakfast. I thought it was quite an extensive one for a Courtyard. Everything tasted fine. The scrambled eggs were rather runny and I decided to avoid them. I do however feel that if you asked nicely they would cook them to order or make an omlette for you. However, I was in a rush and did not have the time to explore this option.
Gym
There is a gym on the 6th floor, but I did not visit it. Based upon the hotel's online pictures, it looks like it will be a fairly small gym.
Overall
Overall I would say this is a solid choice hotel in Pilsen for both tourism and business. It is located slightly removed from the central squared offering a bit more serenity during business periods, but close enough to allow for easy access by foot.
The staff was friendly and accommodating. Enhoy Pilsen!
