Just wondering if they ask for associate ID for this deeper discounted MMP rate or if having a valid MMP form will be sufficient to pass muster with the front desk and night audit.
they will check to see if the form is valid unless they don't care to check but there are systems to check for it. there is no "associate" id as the only way to generate the form is to have an associate id.

If you’re not an associate, then that special rate does not appear to apply to you (unless the rate details explicitly state otherwise) as it seems to be applicable only to Marriott associates employed in the greater china region (maybe the rate details clarify that it for ALL associates staying at hotels located in that region?).

Still, if you want to book it, it’s AYOR.
MMP applies also to associates and immediate family. MM4 is associate only.

I don't know why you say where you work has no bearing, when the rate details says that where you work does have bearing. Also note that this rate does not contain the "Available to spouses, domestic partners, parents, parents in-law, brothers, sisters and children of Marriott associates for personal travel only (1 room/night)." wording of the normal Explore rate.

  • Explore Rate for Greater China Associates
  • - Available to associates employed in Greater China visiting
  • Greater China hotels
  • - Available to associates of Marriott for personal travel only
  • (2 rooms per day maximum, associate is required be part of the
  • stay)
  • - Guests with confirmed reservations on a sold-out night can be
  • walked if provided alternate accommodations at the same rate.
  • - At check-in, eligible guests must present a photo ID AND
  • valid Explore Rate Authorisation Form or Quarter Century Club
  • Card.
