Off topic for this thread but in my experience it can take take 15-30 minutes for a Grab to turn up in Sukhumvit-Silom area (ie. downtown Bangkok) on a normal day. It didn't used to be like this. I've been using Grab since the app was launched and became functional in cities across SE Asia and while I continue to use it where it's available I no longer trust it and have to account for longer and longer waiting times. We were stuck in an outlying area of Bangkok for two hours late last year after distant car after car accepted, drove around a bit, and then cancelled the journey. Also, the rewards points system has been devalued to such an extent that you don't get points at all in Singapore, for example, for some reasons. I think they're trying to force you to use their rubbishy payment system which is only usable by local territory residents. When I move to Bangkok in August I'll have the time to investigate the alternatives and I'll gladly use anything that accepts the ride and turns up within a reasonable timeframe. Which Grab no longer does. In my experience. YMMV and you may consider it to be wonderful which is fine.
