Yes, I stayed in jw cusco this jan. :)this news is stale. Anyone can provide new information of jw Maldives?

I would love more info about Marriott Maldives---though I thought it would be a Renaissance or something

Any new clues or sources on the JW Maldives? I`ve asked the Marriott team on facebook a while ago, but the post was never answered...

On hold. Right not the company is focused on expanding in Asia and Africa.

Is this the Marriott? Oops, no alcohol on the island...

Is this what we all are expecting for? Or is it another property?

That's a Caprice Gold property. Not Marriott.

Marriott to Open 40 Luxury Hotels in 2018

"JW Marriott will be pushing into the 5-star category with 50 percent of U.S. hotels seeing extensive renovations. A new Nashville property will open in 2018; while the brand will go to the Maldives in the fourth quarter with 68 private overwater villas, the smallest number of keys for a JW."

Set to open in November 2018.

I'm afraid to ask what category this will be when it opens. I wouldn't be shocked if they made a Cat 10 just for this property.

If I recall correctly, it is a rebrand from the viceroy maldives. This is what the StR Maldives people told me. Viceroy folded due to initial problems with opening. Word of mouth was bad and they could never recover.

Dreaming of using my Marriott Cat 9 cert here next year so I just need it to launch and then make a reservation before any category shuffle. Not that I want to spend a week in the Maldives, but a solid use of the cert most likely. Mostly because I think with the likely category shuffle I don't think this or any of the Starwood Maldives properties will be at the equivalent of Cat 9 travel package certs.
