Titanium member, upgraded first to an executive room (not suite), then changed to family room at check in to accommodate my kid.

The family room was more spacious than I expected. Sometimes the rooms with two beds are lacking in furniture, but this had a corner sofa with small table, plus a regular desk.

Lounge was busy as reported, but more so on some days than others. I believe the hotel hosts some cruise lines or other groups that can lead to a sudden influx of guests.

I didn't know about the Titanium breakfast in advance, but noticed another guest ordering it one day. Took advantage of it the next morning and got a very nice plate of fried eggs and pancakes.

There is a small SPAR grocery at the Vondelpark entrance, but you'll get a much better selection at the AH on the other side of the hotel and around the corner. Next to that is Umami by Han, a Michelin Bib Gourmand pick and not bad even for somebody coming from Asia.

The hotel parking is valet only and a very expensive EUR 60 for 24 hours. I later noticed there is a self-parking garage directly next door to the hotel. Didn't check the prices, but those renting a car should definitely look into that option.

Room was fine, a bit dated even though its been renovated.
Lounge was fine, but a bit crowded.
Staff were fine, but didn't acknowledge platinum status nor offer a room upgrade unfortunately (but it was a very packed weekend)
Overall 7/10

Has anyone stayed at the Marriott Amsterdam and the Hyatt Regency Amsterdam? I have MAR Titanium and Hyatt Globalist status and prices are almost identical. How do the properties compare? What about the lounges?

I’ve stayed at the MAR a few times (and liked it) but never been to the HR. I’ll be there end of Nov. I would appreciate any comments/recommendations. TIA

In Amsterdam I prefer the Marriott, great staff, executive lounge is the best, the bar in front serves great French Onion soup, the airport bus stop is almost out front.

What’s the dinner situation in the lounge? I’ll have some long days ahead and was thinking of skipping dinner and grabbing a bite at the lounge instead

Depending on your consumption you should be fine, I generally "lite dine" cocktails then down the hall for some of their fantastic French Onion soup watch all the goings and comings outside ! If you want a great steak then turn right !!!!

Does anyone know the percentage of suites at this hotel?, booked in a family room now but just trying to understand the probability of an upgrade.

This hotel seemed like the closest city centre bonvoy option that would accommodate four/room.

Hi FTers,
just wonder has anyone got success with an early check in at this property, say 11am-ish?

Cheers

I have found over the years the management is very accommodating for guests. We used the hotel as a stop over once going to Africa, they kept our large bags allowing us to travel light ! The Lounge is in my opinion the best in the system. Their french onion soup is commendable.

Thanks, edgewood49 and margarita girl, for your feedback and comments!
