Thanks to scubaccr for the info (as of Dec 1st 2016)
o If you have lounge access you will be given room in new West Tower, So do not use East entrance or east checkin desk.
o don't use original main entrance to East Reception,
o Enter by car at same main security entrance
BUT
o Circle round and keep going to West Entrance
o have car/taxi carry on round "internal Marriott Road" to access next Marriott entrance at the West Tower Reception
(If you carry on round the public road, security guy won't let you into Marriott through second set of entrance barrier from the road ! (I tried 4pm today, 7th Jan))
Reason
o West Tower reception and elevators is quite some walk from East Tower checkin, and is on a lower level, and early December the escalator was not working so had to hump suitcases down stairs at end of inter-hotel East-West walk
o west tower entrance (similar to East entrance) once reached, hasextenal xray screening machine to screen all guest luggage before entry to hotel.
As it was explained to me, guests can accompany the elite member into the lounge for a meeting or to relax, but only 1 guest per elite member can take advantage of dining options, and this is strictly enforced during breakfast. Additional guests can dine for an up charge, fees listed below.
Executive lounge hours:
Open from 6a - 12mid every day
Breakfast - 6a - 10:30a (1000php for additional guests)
Afternoon tea - 2:30p - 5p (750php for additional guests)
Hors D'oeuvres - 5:30p - 7:30p (1500php for additional guests)
Evening Snacks - 7:30p - 9:30p (1500php for additional guests)

I enjoyed my stay at the Manila Marriott. As an Ambassador guest, I was pre-upgraded to the West Wing and given a large Deluxe Suite along with access to the huge Executive Lounge. In a way the West Wing reminds me of the Dubai Meridien with its Royal Club with own pool, unique rooms, etc. The room was generously sized, though as I've often found with Marriotts and Renaissance hotels it's like they haven't consulted an interior designer when putting the room together. Furniture doesn't quite fit properly in the room and it looks like accessories like rugs, etc. to bring the room together are missing. The hotel is attached to a casino (the only place nearby to change money) and an upmarket mall.
Overall I had a very good stay with friendly service and an in-room check-in. I had a few issues at check-out when I was told to sit down away from the door and that I'd be called when the minibus to the airport turned up and was then forgotten about. Without admitting the issue, they quickly got me a car so I was able to get my flight, but in an ideal world I'd like hotel staff to be a bit less obviously deceptive. I'd be very happy to stay at the hotel again when needing somewhere near the airport.

No comment on Manila Marriott service since I did not stay there, but overall Philippines is way below in terms of service compared to Thailand, Malaysia and even Indonesia or Vietnam.

I won’t comment on the specific wording of the previous poster, as “export” implies the people have no choice in where they live. Wholly untrue. I don’t think there was any bad intention, however, probably just a bit of naïveté.
I will say, as someone who is currently living in the Philippines, most workers at the top of their game do voluntarily go abroad, as salaries are shockingly low at home.
I hope someday that Filipino workers can earn what they deserve and choose to remain. I do agree that often the best and the brightest leave - and I understand why.
All of that said, our service at the Marriott Manila (only as diners, not as overnight guests) has never been anything short of excellent.

Sounds legit. I remember at least two staff from Philippines working in ex-SPG hotels in Bangkok, and both were very professional and very nice.

When I was at Al Maha, quite a few staff members were from the Philippines. My girlfriend (also from the Philippines, but she’s an engineer) explained that the reason so many of them get hired to work abroad is due to their fluency in English.

Might use one of my free night certificate at this hotel after island-hopping journey around Palawan. It look like I'll land at T4, and it sound like metered taxi is way to go for T4 to Marriott?
Next day, my flight depart at 8 PM and want to check if they are good at honor Titanium 4 PM late check-out benefit?

Can't see how they could possibly get away even if they wished to. Depending on occupancy you may ask for 5 PM check-out, otherwise just stay in a lounge for a while.

I also recommend Grab. The taxi drivers try to rip you off if you don't look Filipino (and even if you do but aren't a Tagalog speaker) or if you don't speak Tagalog. I've had to curse out many metered taxi drivers in the past who tried to charge me 10x the price or more, thankfully they just try and laugh it off after getting yelled at in Tagalog and pick the money up off the ground, but best to just avoid that situation and just use Grab.

Yeah. I’ll use grab but wow can’t believe how messy NAIA is if you want to transfer between terminals. This property look like good candidate to use my free night certificate from Marriott credit card given how high rate is...
Also hows foods & drinks during evening happy hour since it’s likely I’ll stay & chill after busy island hopping. Is it worth to stop at lounge or stick with note restaurant for breakfast?

The lounge normally offers a couple of hot dishes, a selection of cold meats and cheeses, salad and a range of cakes/pastries. I find it perfectly adequate for a light evening meal. The last time I stayed there I arrived after the hot food had finished but I still had enough cold meats, cheeses with a salad to not be hungry.
On my recent stay I noticed that the shuttle bus from T1 and T2 now seems to go every 30 minutes rather than every hour as before. I found out they have a shuttle bus to T3 (I thought you had to take the footbridge there) which departs on the hour.

There are also casino buses, I believe, should be free from T1/T2 to Newport where Marriott is located.

Just had a 1 night stay here, and have to say, I was very impressed.
As a titanium member, was given an upgraded room in their newer wing, which felt like it had been renovated recently (not followed the thread, so can't comment on how recent, but certainly felt modern compared to the older lobby). The check-in experience was one of the nicest and friendliest I've ever had.
The rooftop pool was fantastic (quiet when I was there), and the exec lounge was stunning - huge and again, very modern.
The breakfast buffet was pretty reasonable.
Just a shame the location isn't more central, I needed a night close to the airport, so was ideal for me, but if you need to be in the city, it wasn't very convenient. Would recommend this hotel highly. Any questions, let me know
