Left over $$
I have several GC's with $1 left over after some churning. Any thoughts on how to use it? I've tried using them for bill pay but the $1 transaction always gets rejected.
Thanks

You can buy $1.00 in postage stamps at the post office. Whether you can do split payments at the post office to buy more than $1.00 in postage at a time using multiple cards, I do not know.

Now that Amazon has a $5 minimum for gift card balance reloads, here is how I empty small balance, prepaid MC/VISA cards.
Add the card as a payment method on Amazon.
Select the item or items you want to purchase, and go to check out.
For the sake of example, let's say your total amount to be paid is $15.56.
Open another tab, use your Amazon app, etc. and go to reload gift card balance. (I am assuming your Amazon gift card balance available is $0.)
Reload your balance for $14.56 ($15.56 - $1.00 on prepaid debit/credit card) with your preferred credit card or method. It usually takes about 10-15 minutes for the funds to be available.
Return to the original checkout, and be sure to select your debit/credit card as the payment method.
Amazon will ask if you want to use your $14.56 gift card balance. Click yes...the remaining $1.00 will be charged to the prepaid debit/credit card.

At Aldi and local grocers, I have drained small balance residuals on both MC and Visa GCs to pay for groceries. I have no idea how many swipes you could get away with, but have some cash if you are left with a balance and unable to do more swipes

IME, most chain grocery stores allow swiping multiple GCs to auto-drain. I usually use 3-4 of those cards in Wegmans in one purchase and pay the remaining with a CC. Never tried more than 4, though. Have done it with 2 swipes + CC at WM SCO and Kroger as well.

Just an FY update... I went to Costco and asked if I could buy a Costco card using all my misc. GC. They said sure. I just needed to know how much was on each card and what the total was to be. Piece of cake.

Unless you know the rules for your specific cards, I'd stick to no more than 2 GCs per transaction. For example, if you try to swipe 3 SecureSpend Visas in the same transaction the 3rd one will lock and you'll need to call and have them mail you a replacement.

I usually use at Walmart/grocery. Just keep a stack in your glove box and use a couple every time you go, think of them like $1 off coupons.
If you have medical bills through mychart, they usually take gift cards of any amount and even vanillas work online for this.
