Sites with automatic reload? (besides Amazon)

Let me know if this is the wrong place for this. I'm interested in manufactured spending to achieve a high transaction count, rather than a high transaction amount.

If I understand correctly, Amazon allows you to automatically reload your gift card balance on a preset schedule. Are there other sites like this?

Why do I want a high transaction count? Well, I would like to get one of those high-interest checking accounts requiring a minimum count of debit transactions, but I don't think I can meet the transaction requirements organically. (One option is to use my friends and family to help, but I'd rather not.) I would like to try to put together a few automated monthly or weekly transactions with different sites to make it seem more organic.

How many transactions are you required to do in a month? Is there a minimum amount required?
Most of these accounts only require one to two purchases a week (8-10/month) and if you like coffee, McDonalds sells a cup for $1.
My point is that most of us have enough small time purchases to satiny the requirements of these types of accounts without putting your Amazon account at risk for dicey activity.

Finally, given the higher rates available on money market funds, are you really gaining anything by having such an account requiring your machinations to satisfy their Machiavellian demands to obtain the account's goodies??

Just asking

radonc1 I think you're correct that it's not worth it, because of your point about the money market funds (and other related products); your point about whether it's really worth it; and your point about the risk of "dicey activity." In addition to those points, there's the fact that I could easily go with one of these accounts, I could do a lot of work to set everything up, then a better (maybe simpler) deal could pop up later and now it's hard to switch because maybe it's another Chex, maybe I have to maintain a minimum balance in the old account, etc, compared to how easy it is to sell a bond or cash out of a money market fund. So I'm probably not going to do anything, or at least bide my time and see how things look in 6 months.

However, as it stands today, the best rewards checking rates (like the ones requiring the x # of transactions) I can find are higher than the best money market/bond/short-term CD returns I can find. I kinda just wanted to plan for the future in case the rewards checking rates really pull ahead. I was kind of spurred to action by the recent announcement of 6% on up to 35k balances from Union Square Credit Union, although that one doesn't seem like a good fit for me (they don't seem very friendly to MS-adjacent stuff ^-^).

Unfortunately I don't really grab coffee or do very much other small-transaction type stuff; I just checked and I haven't even made 12 transactions per month total across all payment methods in the past 3 months. But to your point, maybe I could shuffle some things around, change some habits, and it would work.

Okay, here's another one: https://www.t-mobile.com/support/acc...repaid-account

Would this work? What do you think?

First, you need a T-Mobile account. I presume that you do.
Second, look at this piece of not so fine print. I underlined the amount you need to add.

Autorefill: With Autorefill, you have a set amount between $10 and $150 withdrawn from your bank for your T-Mobile refill. Schedule when your payment is made:
Monthly: Every 30 days, recommended for monthly plan types.
Every two weeks: Same day every other week.
Weekly: Same day every week.

At it's best, this will only give you 4 transactions (maybe 5 on one or two months a year) using the weekly method.

So, yes, it will work but will it be frequent enough and is the amount withdrawn ($40 minimum/month) low enough to justify the checking account you are looking to acquire?
I'd rather pick up a pack of gum at the drugstore while getting my VGC and use the debit card there.
Cheaper and more frequent

Yeah, that's a good point. If I had T-Mobile I think I could justify that with multiple lines for my family, but I don't currently have T-Mobile. I don't mind switching and they do have some good offerings, but it seems like other options are best for us. Still interesting though. Good catch with the $10 minimum!

I know I would mess up the pack of gum thing (that's what they're banking on!) but that kind of stuff is a good option and I should be looking for similar easy organic things like that.
