Variable Everywhere GCs sold at USPS

I accompanied my teen to the PO to guide him how to send packages to his friends. On our way out, I saw racks of GCs and the variable Everywhere cards caught my attention: GE, DE, SE, ME. I didn't see FE but they may just be OOS. I asked the postal cashier if they accepted CCs for the GE and she said of course! I didn't look close enough if they also sold variable $500 MBs. Just keep in mind you can't do a "*one shop MS stop" with these MBGCs. For those running out of places to buy VGCs, check your PO.

I can't remember what amex card gives cat bonus to purchases at the USPS. Anyone remember what specific card it is and bonus? Aside from amex, other CCs that gives cat bonus for USPS purchases?

I'm not sure if it's YMMV as to mode of payment but the one near me, they'll take CC for GCs.

*buy n drain at the same place.

Simply Cash 3% & BGR 3x for shipping IF you select that category at the beginning of the year. FedEx, UPS and USPS.

Most of the POs in my area have signs saying "Gift Cards can only be purchased with Cash or Debit Cards". A postmaster told me awhile back that would change when they their POS are chip card compliant, but that hasn't happened yet around here. If this happens before January 2018 I'll be changing my Simply Cash 3% category to shipping for certain.

Did you actually complete a purchase of one of these cards using CC, Mamibear? I would be more inclined to think the clerk was in error than that their longstanding policy has changed...

I rarely go to the PO and the last time I remembered buying a VGC with CC was Q4 of 2015 when there was a flyer displayed giving discount for buying a Visa GC. I paid with a CC w/o issue then so when cashier said they still take CCs for VGCs, I thought nothing has changed at MY PO.

I'd only buy VGCs there if there are promos since it's more profitable to buy the variable $500s with $5.95 fee using 0Bc.

The PO may be the only place to buy for some MSers whose sources of VGCs have dried up so they can always try there to meet their min spend, if necessary. FYI for newbies, the PO is NOT your first choice to buy VGCs even if they take CCs, unless it is the only place you can buy it.

Why would it not be a good first choice? What is meant by Variable Everywhere Else?

In NYč it's our only semi-reliable place to liquidate
