Today I was trying to do a $3000 load with 2 of these cards and one redcard. As others have mentioned, I could not do all 3 together. I tried all combinations too... a redcard and an amex target card wouldn't work.
Among other things, this seems to remove the loophole that allows you to purchase 6000 a month, right? This is not good for credit card fraud issues. |

Confirmed. The screen says, in a big red box with an 'X': "Can't sell more of this prepaid item." It affects AFT and RedCard.

So direct deposit is activated and the load limit is changed from 5k/28 days to 10k/28 days. One cent is the lowest amount possible.

The info here and on redcard seem to be contradicting. Can we load 2 different AFT in 1 transaction ?

To the above few posters:
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I always thought the way this works is that you can't load more than $3,000 per card per month. I was under the impression that with one card, you can only do 3k a month max. I would love to be proven wrong as I have 2 cards to my name and 1 card in another person's. I've never tried doing more than 3k per 28 days on the lone wolf card! After reading through the wiki one more time this at least appears possible. Is anyone doing 5k a month with a single card? |

You're misunderstanding how the limits work. Getting a direct deposit does not raise the "cash" load limit to $10k. That is a separate limit.
The verbiage on the website states the following: When you purchase the Card, there is a minimum initial load amount of $.01 and a maximum initial load amount of $500. Each time you reload the Card you can add from $.01 to $1,000 to the Card. There is no ongoing minimum balance requirement, but the maximum balance you can have on your Card at any given time is $2,500. You can have up to two Cards issued to you. The maximum balance you can carry per Card, at any given time, is $2,500, and you cannot load more than $5,000 across both Cards over a 28 day period. However, we permit you to maintain a higher balance limit and monthly maximum load amount of $10,000 across both Cards over a 28 day period if loaded with direct deposits from your employer or other payor. |

When I called in the CSR spent nearly a half hour on the phone with his technical team, and confirmed that it should work, and that a ticket would be raised.

Data Point Alert: Just loaded $2k to my wife's card and $1.5k to my redbird using both a credit card and a VGC. No issues. In fact a few women at customer service know me now and say I am the only person they have waited on with a redbird card. I guess MS'ers are few and far between up here.

Please call back and make sure to remind them to fix the Target prepaid Redcard too, go into as much detail as you can.

So much for doing $6k per month (per SSN).

While I appreciate your sarcasm, the terms don't state anywhere that the increased limit is only for direct deposit, with the cash limit staying the same, and the CSR confirmed that.

I wouldn't trust the CSRs for any of the AmEx prepaid products. But just to confirm- you have successfully loaded $5999.99 to a single AFT (or two linked cards) within a 28 day period, and this was done by loading $1k at a time? Or did you do this by having multiple loads on a single swipe, using the register trick that recently closed?
|
Is it possible ...

But what about if the 2 AFT cards are not the same SSN? Say mine and my wife's. Or has that been tried? I have looked over the last few days of messages but it isn't clear if anyone has actually tried this. In other words, is it a hard limit on more than $1K per load, or a limit of $1K per load per SSN? |
