I was able to do it with a debit transaction, so it is likely the store. I'd suggest trying a different retailer, but I'd avoid WM unless they have a kiosk.

What was the error message?

Sometimes that happens because they add on the wrong fee, so if I have $500 on the card and expect a $1 fee, I will ask for a $499 MO. If it fails to go through my first question is, what was the fee again?

I avoid Walmart in principal, but I've not had any trouble with using prepaids there. YMMV. The only way to know is to try.

Make sure the money didn't still get deducted off the card - this happened to me.

ran into this when I 1st got my MVD. Now I know for 1 MO any amount @ WM its - $.120 (.70 to WM and .50 for MVD) if 2 MOs any amount its - $1.90 .70 x 2 and .50 to MVD) If your MVD doesnt have enough funds to pay all the fees and the amount you want the MO for it will be Denied. I remember my 1st time I was off by 10 cents and got Denied.

Keep in mind if you want 2 MOs and do 2 different transactions its $1.20 x 2 and not $1.90 as MVD will hit you twice for their .50 fee ( getting 2 MOs on teh same transction with WM MVD takes only .50 1 time , since MVD fees are per transaction you do and not the # of MOs you get while WM fee is per MO and not teh # of transactions you do

btw never had any problems if the correct amount was on my MVD using the Temp card @ WM

I had an error message on a temp card last month. Like 3zeroT, my card account was debited and I didn't get the MO. It's been five weeks and WM is still investigating.

My cc bill is due next week. I hope I get this sorted. I can't be late on a bank payment!

If you need that MO of $500 or $1000 in order to pay off your CC bill, you better stop playing the MS game, before you get in knee deep. Ive had to float $3500 the past few months, hate to see what that would do to you

Rule #1 never do more then you are able to float on your own, if you cant to afford to float that $500 or 1000 stay clear of this game

Just wanted to provide a data point, I bought a few of these and registered them with no issues. I tried to register my wife and it kept rejecting her enrollment and I couldn't register anyone else to that card. Called MVD and found out that even though we have lived at this address for over 2 years, since she just changed her name it shows that she hasn't lived here long enoughalso the reason she couldn't get a BB, T-Mobile, etc.

So to remedy this, I was able to have them unregister the cards and they turned them in to credit cards. I was able to put a pin and zip code on it. Was able to successfully use them to buy RLs. Obviously not a good way MS, but if you find yourself with a temporary card that you just can't register this is an option. They wanted 9.95 to refund the card or 4.95 to transfer to one of my MVDs.

Fully agree here, if a $500 float is an issue causing you the inability to pay a bill you are on a road to destruction very soon

It's not even just about the "float".

Not all of us have 10-15K credit lines, so having anywhere north of 30% of your CL used up. Your CS will take a direct hit. Another reason for caution in this game.

I regularly float 5-6k at any given time AND keep my cc balances below 10%. That's the only way you can do serious MS without compromising your financial stability and ability.
