JH (Jackson Hewitt) Preferred Card
Decided to sign up for this today and spread the news as it's another VR unloading tool... The bill pay system is through Billeo and not great (at least for my area); however, you are able to cash advance or withdraw for a limited amount using an ATM.
Can be a little pricey with the $510 ATM transaction limit and $2.50 fee, but using it for MO may be well worth it to then deposit into my Simple Bank account. Various fees and limits are as follows; however the full list can be seen here. Fees $2.50 + ATM Fee for Cash Withdrawal $5 Cash Advance up to $2,500 $3/month but WAIVED if load $1000+/month Limits $1000 maximum VR/day $5000 maximum VR/month $510 per ATM transaction $2,550 daily ATM withdrawal |

I think a blogger already said something about this card yesterday(?).

I have a post coming out on it today, but the short version is $5k per month, unload via BP/MO's the cheapest option. Cash costs money ($2.50 ATM, $5 cash advance) And it's from Sutton Bank, a new player, regulated by NYDFS, who actually is a pretty heavy handed regulator Had the a couple of cards a couple of weeks all good so far but of course we will see once the volume goes up how long it lasts |
The BP feature appears to be very very limited. I couldn't find any of my CC. It seems this will be good for MO only. I'd rather get a 4th BB.

It's not even a real bill pay. It just takes you to the biller's web site. It's a joke. Unload via money order and third party bill pay (wm/rite aid/kroger/insert your grocery-or-pharmacy store here)
|
Any idea what the maximum debit limit on this card is?

Not willing to do the MO gymnastics at the moment. |

My feelings exactly. I can see how this might make sense for some folks. But I have a good supply of BB shells. Btw DW and I we have 6 BB cards which all get maxed monthly. I would have jumped on this if the BP was decent.

Another card I can't make use of because none of my stores will sell VR with CC.
Sigh. |
This really is a MVD, with JH logo on it. The website options, alert setups, etc all like MVD.
And ITC Financial Services is same as Incomm, so expect similar shutdowns. |
I don't understand why are people going towards the MO route with this card and with other cards such as MVD?
If they want to do it, simply get One Vanilla or any other Visa Gift Cards and use them to get MO at Walmart. With this card, they will first need to buy VR (cost $3.95), load VR into this card & then go to Walmart to get a MO and then deposit the MO into your bank account. Why such a hefty process for only $1 of saving? Even that $1 would be depleted because of the additional time. Am I missing something here? |

I'm going to sit this one out for the time being. Someone posted on a blog about having their account blocked and it taking a long time for them to get their funds back. It was TPG.

Not every MS technique is for everyone! I understand the constructive criticism and comparison, but there's no need for these boards constantly to be so negative. If something doesn't work for you, move on and continue on your way until you find something worth using and sharing for those like you! |

Shoot....at one point I had two from friends, who have since jumped head first into MS so I had to surrender those cards. |

At the WM close to where I live, I can do whatever I need to without much of a hitch. I think WMs probably will ask to see cards if folks are showing them that we are using GCs. Folks on the registers wouldn't care otherwise. |
I don't understand why everyone's .....ing about the poor bill pay. Just use the debit card as a pay-by source at the credit card's website. What's so hard about that?

It's intermittent. One WM I go to, the lady asked to see my bluebird. She always tries to see my debit card also, but I never show her. She seems scared to ask, I'm not sure why.

I got my first push back from Wally World today. I loaded $2K on the self-help machine a couple days ago. Today, the machine was down. I went to the counter. I loaded a MC gift card using the cancel trick, which works like a charm. I asked the customer service rep behind the money center counter to let me do another load. The rep said let me see your debit card and your license, then looked at my card and said you can't load gift cards. She said she got a memo saying they're not supposed to allow it.
So it appears there is a push coming from somewhere in Wally World management to discontinue BB loads by gift cards. What I fail to understand is why. There is no more money laundering or fraud risk in allowing a gift card load versus allowing a cash load. Arguably, there is less risk because surely Wally World has figured out by now that most of us loading up on gift cards are purchasing them through traceable credit card transactions. |

Why buy MO when you can transfer to your bank with your BB? Sorry...not sure what I am missing here either. Been at the MS game for the last 2 years.

Somehow I didn't post that in ADK's MS playlist. I'll have to go correct that. My BBs are full by the 5th of the month or so. I welcome another place to plant VRs, even if it costs .69 per thousand to harvest them. |
MM shares his shut down experience on blogs around...

I don't know the term "GC" when I'm at Wally's. It's debit, as I say only when asked, and when asked to show my card I present it. "Let me see your card... ahh, prepay, yeah, we don't allow it." (If I wanted $500 of junk they'd happily take it.) This is a new thing. This means I have to use a debit card with my name it to do the deed there now. |
