Maybe posting limits would be a better limit than reading limit. But that will just lead to many people getting many more PM's begging for information.

PainCorp, I do agree with your statement.

However, no one forces you to read and/or answer those threads.

I myself find those threads quite entertaining.:D

The rookie forum would be free game to anything.

Who will divide us by being pure and not so pure?

Anyone could read/post anywhere. It would be understood that in the pro forum you better have you sh!t together, or get flamed by everyone. And if someone decided to answer a newb question, they would be suspended for a week or so.

Then we need the clear determination of the noob vs not noob question.

If someone asks: "which stores except CVS accept CCs for VCs?", or "which stores accept CCs for the ReloadIt cards?"would it be a noob question?

Both. A pro would say, "I went to store X and store Y, both denied for Reloadit, anyone able to buy RL from there on CC?"

Also, you could judge newb/ not newb by the amount of flame it gets. You can go by a user's FT cred as well. There are a few pros on here that I would let get away with a newb question every once and a while.

In general, I think your proposal makes sense.

However, it means a lot of work for the mods.

It does, but maybe someone would volunteer.

Im sure FlightNurse would be happy to regulate newb posts. ;)

Except the basis for the forum isn't entertainment, it's business (even as a hobby).
Hence, the problem.

We could just keep the one forum we have now & do this now.;):D

Yes we could, but right now, there are always people who answer the newb questions. If there was a section where this was frowned upon, it wouldnt happen as much.

Example: Im sure someone will answer this.

Well, it also has some "socializing" theme, doesn't it?

Nominate the top posters in the MS forum. Then there would be an open vote to pick 3 or 4 of them. Then they allow who is in or out.

The number of the posts does not mean much.

Some forums had implemented a rating system where posts can receive "+" or "-" from the other members.

Not here though. Must be a different engine.

Would be nice..

Do it like CC, you get access after so much, but can be masked if you don't follow certain guidelines. If you ask too many basic questions you get a 30 day mask.

Right, which is why there would be a vote. You know who the pros are for the most part, and they would get voted.

Yes, the + - would be a great add here too.

And I thought I was a newbie! :)
