Buying giftcards (esp. Wal-mart, Wholefoods) through AA or United shopping malls.

Has anyone had success buying Wal-mart or Wholefoods giftcards (convoluted steps ok) through the AA or United shopping malls?

Wal-mart, Wholefoods, plus maybe Target, are the only gift cards I can imagine I'd spend. (Also Trader Joes but they only sell their GC in their own stores).

I currently have a CC that has 1.5c cashback (BoA Travel Rewards) and I'd like to supplement with some AA or United points through using my CC in the malls.

I know most say no points for GC purchase in the conditions but am wondering if this is reality, especially if it is a mixed product + GC order.

I saw the Wholefoods giftcards at CVS yesterday so I am assuming some places that are listed in the mall have them.

I thought MS folks would be most likely to have knowledge of buying giftcards, especially if multiple steps required e.g., buying another store giftcard than then using to buy the Wholefoods giftcard.

Thanks

I haven't had problems doing this with UR. FM's blog has a pretty good history section exactly for this, I would recommend checking there.
