thanks all for you replies ---- I certainly did not confuse what the agent told me.....but clearly you all are not having problems at all. I was actually trying to load a new account for a friend when this happened as mine was maxed out for the month. The friend was using a temp card from Walmart (which was one problem), but the agent told me about this new policy and fraud. Maybe someone was correct when they wrote that the agent was confused with a debit Vanilla card vs the reload card....I have no clue, but that is what she said. So, I am hoping on July 1st just to continue on my merry way without issue as you guys say you have none. Thanks

I loved you on Boy Meets World.

Can we either delete this thread or merge with the bluebird thread? Mods?

I think you got an agent that confused their Vanilla Prepaid Card with their Vanilla Reload Cards. As to why you couldn't load $1,000, could be any number of issues. Maybe just wait a day and try again?

you may indeed be correct. after July 1 I will try again and see what is up. when I have a new limit.

Look at the post above yours - when a thread drags someone out of the woodwork who has only posted 3 times since 2007 that fits my definition of blowing up. :)

Call it in? Are you sure you don't have a virus? My mom called me and said her Facebook was hacked so she called the number on Facebook.com and they wanted $65 to unlock her account. Thankfully she didn't give them any cc information and realized it was a scam.

I just loaded $2500 via the website to one MVD. No issues.

I found a CVS yesterday that had a lot of VR cards.. Since this was my first time trying this, I took just one and asked for a load of $ 500. One of the cashier’s commented – ” you can only load them with cash, not card”.. but the guy who was doing my transaction seemed to have an open mind.. I gave him my Chase Marriott to swipe.. unfortunately the transaction came up declined.. I was surprised and disappointed.. but just before leaving, I asked him to retry with my Amex Gold.. And that went through.. Came home and transferred the $ 500 to my bluebird..

Does the Chase not going through and Amex going through bring up any red flags..?? am I missing something here..??

Probably a fraud alert on your Chase. Call the number on the back of the card and explain that, yes, it was you trying to spend $500 at a CVS.

I set up text message alerts with both Citi and Chase - works like a charm. In 90% of cases I get the text and reply to it to clear the alert in under 1 minute - while still at the register, so can continue to use the card.

What the name of alert you are setting with Chase to help the case? Thanks.

Honestly, I am not sure. I want to say that it started once they have my cell phone number for other alerts - they start using it for fraud alerts as well.
