Not happy with CardPool

Recently Save-A-Lot had Home Depot, Khols, Barnes and Noble and iTunes $25 gift cards for $15. (40% discount!)

I ended up buying 69 HD, 43 B&N, and a handfull of Khols GCs.

I recently sold 34 of these cards to Cardpool via TCB. After about 4 days I get a call from them asking how did I get these gift cards, verify my address, etc. I told them I bought them. They seemed happy with my answer.

Today I get the following email:
We’ve recently received your gift cards, but were unfortunately unable to accept them at this time because there was an issue processing your transaction. For your convenience, we are returning your gift cards to you free of charge, via USPS Priority Mail with Signature tracking number xxxxxxxxx. Please note this number may not be active until it reaches the local USPS of its destination.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected]

... does that mean?? What was the issue?? At ths time??? Does that mean I should try to send them in again and hope they don't have an issue?

Has anyone else had this problem?

I've been selling about $500 in GC with them without any problem. My advice is not to send them a bunch of GC at the same time. It would just freak them out. Remember that after they send you the check, there is little they can do in case the GC later turns out to be involved in fraud. If you can float the money, IMHO 2-3 per weeks are fine.

Thanks for the advice. I think you might be right.

I just hope no funny business goes on since they have all the card numbers and the pins!

Has anyone had trouble BUYING from cardpool?? Trying to unload a couple of the $100 amex cards from the OM promo by buying some Petco gc's. Keep getting an error that my card can't be authorized. (I have $92 available on the card I'm using to purchase a $58 Petco card). Maybe they just don't accept prepaid cards as payment?

I did have a problem with my last purchase from Cardpool and oddly enough, it was two Petco cards that I purchased. When I received them, I immediately checked the balance, but website gave me an error (not $0 balance, but an error). Emailed Cardpool and they said to send the cards back. I did and was refunded within a few days. Maybe something going on with Petco cards???

I'm sure they are saying the exact same thing about you...

Great find btw ...40% is the best I've ever heard of. A steal! (No pun intended!)

I've only used cardpool twice, both times to sell cards fairly recently. I took advantage of the Amex Neiman Marcus and Coach offers ($25 off $200 and $50 off $250, respectively). I sold both GCs for a discount on face value, but maintained a profit due to the Amex offer. Both cards were mailed out last Thursday, 12/26. Both were sent regular mail using cardpool's prepaid labels. As of today, 12/29, I've received receipt confirmation of both cards and apparently my checks are in the mail. I'll reserve judgment till my checks have been deposited, but so far they have been outstanding in their communication and turnaround time, especially during the holiday season.

Is there something in their terms that allows them to return the cards to you at their discretion? When you buy cards the transaction is non-refundable (barring an issue with the GCs). Seems like it should be reciprocal if they buy cards from you. That said, probably not worth your time to fight it.

Edit: looks like Cardpool offers refunds on physical gift cards if not "satisfied", so I guess it is reciprocal.

I've used Cardpool for a number of transactions throughout the years. As gifts during our wedding we received a number of Bed Bath & Beyond gift cards that we unloaded on Cardpool. The transaction was absolutely seamless. I also just sent in the Neiman Marcus gift card and everything went well (I've already received and deposited the check).

I have a number of Cardpool transactions coming down the pipe in the next couple of weeks as well.

My biggest fear with Cardpool is the actual mailing of the gift cards. If the cards get lost in the mail or stolen you're pretty much up the creek!

Did you register the card?

This is the biggest problem I have as well. I would almost rather sell them online and take a loss in dollars that have the nervous couple of days until they receive them.

If you are doing a bunch of cards, why not just send via fedex or priority mail. You have tracking and let's be honest... odds are, unless it is stolen, it will not be lost.

Cardpool has been pretty good for me. I sent in a bunch of gcs from that Amazon sync deal and after a quick call to "verify", they sent out the check. I sent in a second bunch from some cards I had squirreled away and that was processed w/out question.

As others suggested, send with tracking number or something if you're worried.

Unless the envelope arrives in tact but cards are "missing." Then, you get the pleasure of going back with card numbers and receipts to the merchant. My latest experience of this, will be the last, even though around here, discounted GCs with gas perks is all the rage for getting grocery shoppers.

Datapoint: I've purchased probably $12,000 in GCs from Cardpool this year. I've had a few duds - where I got the card and it was empty, or they sent me an invalid eCode - and in each case they've quickly refunded my money. Their customer service has been exceptional for me over the last year.

No experience in selling gift cards to them though.

Figured I'd pass it along. They don't always have the best discount %, but I'll go w/ Cardpool over some of their competitors, just because I'm confident they'll refund me if I get a dud.
