Additionally, we have updated the terms and conditions of our User Agreement (https://payments.amazon.com/help/Personal-Accounts/User-Agreement-Policies/User-Agreement) that apply to your use of the products and services provided by Amazon Payments. Our updated User Agreement revises certain terms (including, among other things, the elimination of person-to-person payments). Our new User Agreement will become effective on October 13, 2014, which is more than 30 days from when we first posted our updated User Agreement. By continuing to use our services after October 13, 2014, you are agreeing to be bound by the terms and conditions of our new User Agreement.
FAQ's

Is Amazon Payments treated as a cash advance? No CC issuer has been reported as treating an AP transaction as a cash advance unless the sender selected "Payment is for Cash Advance" on the Send Money screen.
What does it mean when your payment is "pending"? Your payment will be reviewed. We are unsure whether this review is done by a human or computer. It should take less than 24 hours but is usually within minutes.
How should you describe your payment? "Goods or services" will allow you to charge with a CC and it will not be treated as a cash advance. Note: If you choose cash advance, it may be treated as such by your CC issuer; always choose Goods/Services. There is no reason to put anything in the optional description field - leave it blank.
What is the monthly limit for sending CC payments? $1,000 per calendar month per AP account
What is the monthly limit for receiving CC payments? $1,000 per calendar month per AP account
What if it is not allowing me to send/receive more than $500 or any at all? You probably have not verified your bank and/or added a CC. In order to get the full $1,000 allowance for sending and receiving you must have a bank verified AND a CC added to your account as a payment method.
Does AP qualify for special spending categories? Specifically it qualifies for Discover's (usually 4th quarter) category of online purchases but so far, not Chase's "5% CB on Amazon.com purchases." Refer to thread for other options.
Can you get shutdown? Yes.
How do you get shutdown? No one knows. Anecdotes are found throughout the thread. Some suspicious behavior that MIGHT get your AP account(s) shut down is listed below.
Which transaction is most advisable? A -> B -> C -> A (see here)
Are any fees charged during this process? No, not by Amazon Payments. If your transaction is treated as a cash advance by your card issuer--fees are possible. Beware and always double check that goods/services is selected!
Can you liquidate Amazon GC via AP? NO!
Can you liquidate other gift cards via AP? Yes. Note that you cannot liquidate the full value of a GC because amazon places a $1 hold while it verifies the validity of the GC. You can sometimes (not always) avoid the hold by entering an incorrect expiration date for the GC when adding it to your AP account, and after you have added it, go to "Edit my account settings," then to "Add edit or delete my credit cards" and edit the expiration date there.
When does the month end? It appears as if Amazon is on pacific time, so midnight PDT/PST is when the month resets.

It bears repeating that no one knows the methodology amazon uses to police AP transactions, determines which transactions violate its T&Cs, or identifies violators. However, various people in this thread and elsewhere have confirmed that their AP account(s) were shut down for the following reasons:
  • Associating one credit card number with more than one AP account (Be Careful if authorized user card has the same number as the primary card holder - in some instances the CC numbers are completely different)
  • Associating one bank account with more than one AP account

as I said, one is flagging themselves for doing such action but to each his own.
Thank you for granting me permission to do as I please. I was simply letting the poster know that he can in fact use a CC with someone else's name. Is it ripe for flagging? Perhaps. Can it be done? Yes.

I know of others who used the same bank account on several AP accounts were also shutdown quickly.

You can call to check if you can fix the issue. Good luck!
Thanks for the heads up. I was doing (or playing with the fire) for the last few years without any hiccups. I guess now my time is up. At least they haven't close our accounts yet.

I did. It turned out the problem was I was trying to send payment B>A to the email that A already used for A>B. Bad idea, glad it didn't work.

I'm not sure what triggers this but it's not that unusual. Sometimes AP manually or through some system rule removes payment options. Never tried to re-add them so can't advise there.

Check to ensure that the name you entered for the credit card record exactly matches the name on your AP account. I had my middle initial on one credit card but not on my AP account so it wasn't available. Editing the card info resolves the problem.

account suspended

So I've been sending $1k from A>B>C>D>A for months and now account B has been suspended. I got the following message when I tried to send funds:

"This functionality is disabled on your account as your account is in a suspended state. Click here to find out more about these limitations."

Is there any remedy for this? Should I call or just leave the account alone for awhile and try again in a couple of months? Thanks.

if all the other accounts are still functioning, you may be better off leaving acct B alone; if you call, you run the risk of all your accounts getting shutdown if they are tied to each other. That's my unsolicited advice. It's your judgment call.

Did the B acct have anything in common with any of the other accts? Such as same last name, same home address, using the same computer to send and receive (same IP address), or sharing same bank acct?

Amex Gold Personal or Business Charge cards

Has anyone had any problems with using an Amex Gold Personal or Business charge card (not a credit card) to load with Amz?
I seem to recall awhile back some Amex Gold card holders were shut down or suspended for FR by Amex for loading onto Amz payments. Not sure if this is still a problem with Amex Gold and Amazon pay?
Anyone tried with these cards lately as I don't see anything on the wiki.

I tried to sign up for Amazon Payments and I received an email from Amazon stating that they are requiring me to fax in a government issued photo ID (e.g. drivers license) in order to properly verify my account. Is this a scam or legitimate email? Anyone else have problems verifying their account and what did they do to lift the suspension?

Thanks

My wife is an AU for my CC.
Is it ok for her to use her acct to get 1k per month to me. Then I pay it off since it is my CC? Will this get flagged?

It depends on the cards you're using. make sure the numbers on the primary and AU cards are different because if they are the same, you may be flagging yourself.

Although I'm not sure how you would get points on your cc by selling reload its
the goal would be:

user A buys ReloadIT with CC in store. Gets CC miles/points.
user B buys ReloadIT from userA with AP & CC. Gets CC miles/points.
user B unloads the ReloadIT for cash.

benefits:
* both users get miles/points
* user B could have access to reloadits that he otherwise could not
* user A gets an easy way/fee free to unload the reloadit

does that make sense?

What happens when you hit $1000? That is the AP limit. Seems pretty complicated for 2 Reloadits a month.

Not to mention the risk that either party turns out to be a scammer.
