"Reserve" Phulay Bay
Does anyone know anything about the new Ritz-Carlton "Reserve" resort in Krabi island, Thailand? Does Krabi island have nice beach?
I am thinking of either staying at the Four Seasons Langkawi or this resort early next year. Any suggestions?

When are you planning to travel to Krabi or Langkawi?
The FS Langkawi is beautiful with good service also I suggest The Datai langkawi. It is different but in an amazing location.
Rayavadee in Krabi (a province on mainland Thailand with a stunning peninsula) is the best in the region IMO. Raya has the prime spot on the peninsula with direct access to Phranang Beach as well as Railey beach.

Thanks for the information. Since I was disappointed at the Bulgari resort I'll skip the "reserve" resort this time (until it gets good reviews from this forum).
I'll be visiting the region next February and most likely will stay at the Datai and FS Langkawi this time.

I went and lunched when it was A Phulay Beach Resort (??) and wasn't impressed with - the location. Although i'm sure the rooms are fabulous, and the staff immaculate, it's still on a rocky headland, probably still has views of the mines, and a bit of stroll to anything that resembles sand.
If you want that part of Krabi, stroll down the beach to the Tubkaak. Yes, it's not as 'luxurious' as the RC is, but has a special place in my heart for quite wonderful staff, lovely beach (although shallow) and beautiful views over the Hong Islands.

Too bad- it looked (on the web) like a promising option.
The prices are also quite high given the location.
My understanding was this used to be another hotel that did not do well and was converted to RC?

It's interesting to me that all the posts in this thread are so negative! Reading about it on tripadvisor, everyone says that this hotel is AMAZING. I'll be staying for 3 nights in a couple weeks. I'm hoping I love it! Will of course report back here....

Seeing the pictures in that review has made me want to go back.
It is true that its location does not compare to the Rayavadee`s, but this resort has excellent food, and very polished service that is still warm and caring.
I have stayed in a Reserve Villa, but want to try the Royal Beach Villa category next time. This resort is a lovely place to spend a few nights, but because of its small size and location, I could not imagine staying for longer than three or four nights. I can easily spend a week at the Rayavadee.
The resort was designed by the Thai architect Lek Bunnag, who also designed the Hyatt`s Barai spa in Hua Hin.
