What a BS...

now that others claim to be 7 star hotels, the Burj all of a sudden goes up to 9 stars...

I can see the headline in 2010: Burj al Arab - Worlds best hotel - the only one with 16 stars

The most spectacular thing I found about it was how underwhelming it is.

The Burj Al Arab is an amazing hotel. I thought it deserved at least the 7 star rating.

Zagat survey ranks the hotel but it does not come in close to being the top hotel in the world. 7 stars is a clever marketing strategy that a lot of people fall for.

Spam... Oh well.

The thing I don't understand is it starts at almost $2K, but top room is only $10K... And its sold out farther in advance than FS NY...

There seem to be a host of MUCH better props in Dubai. Not to mention the world. Especially considering the minimum rate.

If you let hoteliers think it's your honour to stay in their property your setting out from the wrong starting position. I work on the basis it should be their honour to have me, not the other way around.

I can only judge from the photographs and the documentaries I have seen but the words overdone and poor taste bling come to mind - the Ritz and One and Only Resorts look a lot more appealing and are decidely cheaper.
