The greatest hotels you ever stayed

I have stayed at many lux. hotels, some of the worlds best (rankin) but
I think it is a big accrual of many points and details with makes a hotel
to a great place.

Please share the best places with us.

My favorit is the Beverly Hills Hotel.

It is a grand hotel with a great history and you will feel this everywhere.
The garden is true beautiful and when you are at the pool maybe you
feel to be at anonther time.
The staff is attentive and helpful. The rooms are generous and equiped with latest technologie. And the Polo Louge is a romantic place for
dinner or only a drink. The pricing level is fair.
But the best is: You forget that it is a business hotel at LA.
You will feel like beeing at a great holiday resort.

The Palace of the Golden Horses in Luala Lumpur, Malaysia. This hotel hosts the ASEAN meetings each year and if that weren't endorsement enough they were hosting the Miss World Tourism contest while I was staying there.

It's been a few years since I was there, but it was far and away more luxurious than any Four Seasons I've been to. They finished building it just before the last Asian currency crisis hit, so most everything is over the top. I'd like to hear from anyone who has been there recently to see if it is still as good as the hotel I experienced.

But in general, the quality of your hotel experience is up to you. If you have low expectations, you can be thrilled by most any hotel.

Thumbs up Four Seasons Hualalai - Big Island

Without a doubt, the Four Seasons Hualalai on the Big Island of Hawaii is incredible. Worth every penny.

The SPA is superb and I have yet to experience another spa like it anywhere.

The only downside to this resort is the fine dining restaurant Pahuia. Big disappointment! Wish I could say it is amazing, but I can't. It is nice, but I personally feel it is nothing more than a tourist trap. The good thing is that the other restaurant/dining options are wonderful.

Everything else here is unbelievable. I never wanted to leave and I often think back to my stay. It was heaven on earth and the epitomy of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.

You cannot go wrong at this incredible resort.

In the late 70's and early 80's it was a tie between the Hotel Bora Bora and Kona Village. Sadly, both have changed. In the 90's it was the Bristol and Crillon in Paris, along with the Hassler in Rome. In this century, I have grown to love smaller, more boutique hotels.

The Four Seasons at Sayan in Bali! I have never been in a more unique and breath taking setting in my life....it was the perfect place to start a lifetime together with my wife! I am getting chills just thinking about it!

Stateside, I prefer for city hotels the Park Hyatt in Chicago or the Four Seasons at Troon North in Scottsdale (if you have a family)....free Haagen Daz bar sir? don't mind if I do...

Thumbs up I vote for The Oriental Hotel (Bangkok)

The Oriental in BKK. Outstanding service and brilliantly clean and well renovated rooms. Good food, amazing atmosphere.

Followed by the MO in HKG and NYC.

Yes, I am a fan of MO.

I second this. I spent a lot of summers at Villa d'Este as a kid and to this day, it remains the only place I can go and truly forget about the rest of the world. It's the first place I think of when I want to plan total R&R.

When were you there? I was there last November and had an excellent meal with 5 other people who are all foodies.

Their chocolate deserts were awesome too
