I look forward to responses. Sadly, our favorite property, Domaine de la Baume, has closed. I wonder if there are Covid casualties, and who is offering good service again after coming thru it. I, myself, am looking for a magical place to stay next time we visit.

We enjoyed Crillon le Brave - https://www.crillonlebrave.com/ - If you like biking you can go up Mont Ventoux.

No clue what would make a hotel feel like "the best" to you since your post is vague about your dates, likes, travel demographic etc
but La Coste and la Coquillade are near the top of my radar these days

We enjoyed a stay at https://www.baumaniere.com/en/
grounds are nicer, location better, service better and food better as well.
manville is newer with nicer room , probably the only advantage ( rooms at baumaniere are dated)

I am looking for a stay next year - late September or early October. I am decided on Airelles Bastide de Gordes, but trying to decide if it makes sense to combine with another property (e.g., Villa Gallici, Crillon Le Brave, Baumaniere) or just stay put and use Gordes as a home base. I have 4-6 nights to play with.
We wouldn't be going to Nice or other areas on the Riviera - we have traveled those extensively in the past. Instead, I'd like to spend our time in small inland villages.

I combined Airelles Bastide de Gordes with Villa La Coste (my third stay) this past October and it was an absolutely perfect combination for eight nights.
If you're only staying four, I would remain at Airelles for the duration - it is truly superlative.
