Hotel for September Weekend in the Cotswolds

We are flying into Gatwick on September 14 and staying 2 nights in Bath at the Gainsborough.

Then, we thought we would like to drive to the Cotswolds and spend the weekend Sept.16 to 18 there before our Sept. 18 international flight out of Heathrow.

I am having difficulty finding a hotel in that area as it is a weekend, and it is probably late to book for September.

So far, I have found the Buckland Manor but the only two rooms available are the very small Classic and the Master which is $800 US. I am not sure I want to spend $800 for this hotel.

Also, the Dormy is available in almost all the categories, but it does not get great reviews on this forum.

Others I have found with availability are the Slaughter Manor House and Lord of the Manor.

Any opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The Cotswolds are very booked up this summer, so I am not surprised you are having difficulty. Try these -

The Painswick - http://www.thepainswick.co.uk/

Whatley Manor - http://www.whatleymanor.com/

The Wild Rabbit Inn - https://thewildrabbit.co.uk/

Barnsley House - http://www.barnsleyhouse.com/

You'll find many of the above and perhaps a few more in this thread:

Does it have to be a hotel in the Cotswolds? There are some lovely cottages that are within the estate of Daylesford Organic Farm. Disclaimer: I haven't stayed but they're on my list.

I stayed at Lords of the Manor (Upper Slaughter) in the 90's. It was very nice.
And the villages of Upper and Lower Slaughter are classic Cotswolds.
Also stayed - one night only - at The King's Arms in Stow-on-Wold (on the Market Square). This is a much larger and livelier town than the Slaughters.

Ellenborough Park has space available for your travel dates. It's also a Virtuoso-member property, which includes complimentary afternoon tea with the amenities.

Hotel description:
Sumptuous Cotswold manor house in The Cotswolds, situated on the outskirts of Cheltenham Spa. The main house of the estate dates back to the 15th Century, when it was erected from iconic Cotswold stone, steeping the manor in layers of history and intriguing tales.

rare at 8-room Foxhill >

guests are encouraged to pop into the kitchen and chat to chef

Our chef will create a four-course menu every-day from local farmed and foraged fair. However, you can go ‘off-piste’ and ask Chef to whip up anything you particularly like. (Our motto at Foxhill is: ‘whatever you fancy, wherever you fancy it’.)

guests are invited to chat to our Chef and design their own dinner based on freshest, local and seasonal ingredients...£40 up to £65 per person.
