Stumbled into this and was wondering if Kyoto is back on track after news of project being stalled some time back

Would be a great to add Kyoto to the stable of Amanresorts in Japan.

I've seen the site cordoned off in north Kyoto, near the Golden pavilion temple. Will be a very nice spot for Aman.

Thanks so much for the info. Looking forward to Kyoto. In the mean time.... quite a few more to go before completing the full Aman world experience.

Zhujiajiao, one of Shanghai’s closest watertowns...[35 villa] Ahn Luh resort is finally ready to swing open its hefty doors in the first week of January 2016...main building, a 600 year old Huizhou-style structure.that’s been painstakingly moved here from Anhui Province, and the promise of a year-round outdoor pool (the first in Shanghai?)

discusses an aman "30km outside Shanghai" >

10 Dec 2015

set on 100 acres of land overlooking ornamental lakes and gardens and will include 24 suites, along with 26 villas, built using the reclaimed stone. The ancient homes and 1,700 giant camphor trees could have been lost a decade ago beneath the waters of the Liao Fang Reservoir in Jianxi province but in order to conserve what the owner saw as a rich part of China’s heritage, the painstaking task of moving the trees and 26 houses stone-by-stone was started, moving them from Fuzhou to the outskirts of Shanghai. The hotel won’t be ready until the end of 2017, but it is being created by Kerry Hill, the architect who designed Aman Tokyo

private club and spa.

Jolivet said: “We have access to a lot of capital, which is allowing us to expand at a steady pace. We have no problem opening two or three hotels a year, but we don’t necessarily want to do even that many as it’s not about quantity."

Mexico, Costa Rica and “another Caribbean island” could also be on the cards.

Petros Stathis has also invested in a big property outside the city of New York, USA consisted of 2.000 acres in which he is exploring the opportunity to build the first ‘Aman’ country club in the world. Currently he is also checking the opportunity .to develop ‘Aman’ resorts in Dubai, UAE and Cuba.
nemu - reservations online
flat rate with these premiums >
weekends
jul 31 - sep 1 (peak month of august)
mar 30 - apr 9 (easter)
apr 29 - may 8 (golden week)
aug 10-14 (obon)
sep 16-24 (autumn equinox)
dec 23-?

odd only 1 month peak season
might be just for first year
and unknown re jan / feb

villas dont vary, except 1BR in "AA Peak"
and online does not show 1BR villa rate
so seems sometimes discounted for 1BR

interesting that article mentions japanese

from above Petros Stathis >
takeover of the “Aman Sveti Stefan” from a Japanese fund and to become a co-owner

maybe no majority owner? or majority owner doesnt want majority development cost?

ownership of individual aman properties/land gets convoluted, especially silverlink/aman itself

I'm not sure if I want to see more Chinese Amans. The existing ones do not necessarily strike me as worth staying at -- too many problems.
