Hard product better at MO :
Is it for the SPA ?, romm ? found the room at MO small
The Spa therapists are better at MO - much better treatments and products than Peninsula.

Even if MO was more expensive, I would still recommend it over The Pen!

New York - 4 day trip

My Mom and I are travelling to New York in October and we want to stay somewhere nice and close to Central Park. We were thinking about either the Ritz Carlton or the Plaza or anywhere nice and luxurious?? Our main aim of the trip is sight seeing and shopping so looking for the best hotel. Any recommendations??

The plaza doesn't have good feedback here.

MO may be an option to consider : modern room and great SPA (room are on the small side). You need to pay extra for a park view.

Since you mentioned the Plaza, I assume you're not looking for a boutique type of hotel but rather a bigger hotel with great amenities and facilities.
The Plaza is a cliche and certainly not worth the rates they charge. You would do very well at the MO, which is worlds better than the Plaza and even slightly cheaper for the date you mentioned. It is close to Central Park, at Columbus Circle. Even the Trump is a superior option.

MO has a killer location and an awesome product.

That said, I must be one of the few, if only, on these forums to recommend UES hotels - Mark & Surrey, for instance.

If you're staying closer to midtown, then it's MO, StR, and FS for me. NO Pen.

"I must be one of the few, if only, on these forums to recommend UES" - many here recommend UES

lowell (UES, no pool) and trump international (not UES, pool) seem to remain most consistent here
mark (no pool) has been very consistent since reopening, includes rooms built to be residences
surrey's seasonal private rooftop lounge has been discussed, and there are also fans of carlyle

MO has pool, and so does Pen. Pen also has academy and childrens offerings for example
greenwich has pool/spa (in basement, like trump) but is no longer as consistent as it was

88 + 20 - greenwich (?) (fairchild residences a couple blocks away)
114 + 60 - baccarat (50ft)
210 + 92 - PH (65ft 25th)
244 + 64 - MO (75ft 36th)
176 + 166 - trump international (55ft)
235 - pen (42ft 22nd) (annual/summer members, 2-hour spa guests)
rooms + residences (length of pool and floor its on)
189 + 157 - upcoming FS 30 park place (75ft 3rd)

We had a great stay at the Surrey. (Trip report on this forum) It is about 1 block from the park and that rooftop terrace is amazing in the summer.
