Pet peeves in luxury hotels - your help here please

All,

I am planning an online poll/survey for Executive Road Warrior magazine about pet peeves in luxury hotels and this forum is the best place to solicit what should be on the poll.

The poll itself will be the drag-and-drop in order of preference type.

This is my initial list. Please add or update.

Thanks in advance.

1.) windows that dont open
2.) phones that aren´t answered (reception, room service, concierge)
3.) garbage cans which have covers
4.) expensive internet
5.) climate control that cannot be fully turned off
6.) expensive parking
7.) slow internet
8.) no hook for bathrobe near shower and/or bath
9.) drapes that don't close (i.e. room isn't fully darkened)
10.) alarm clock that is set by previous guest

Insufficient outlets or difficult to access outlets for computer/cell phone charging.

And since the survey is specific to luxury hotels:

Shower in tub rather than separate shower and tub.

Outrageous mini bar prices.

I guess housekeeping saw we stuck a few personal beverages in our mini-bar fridge during turn down and had another small cube refrigerator delivered to our room our first full day.
We never asked for it, it just "appeared" the next day while we were out.^

Finding a single sink in the bathroom
Finding that the WC is not in its own closet
Doors that can be heard from other rooms when they close
Bedspreads (unless you can trust they have been cleaned before you check in)

Angry

Automated minibars where you can't store any of your own F&B without going through the hassle of having someone come and empty it or having charges taken off at checkout.

Properties with no in-room services book (see: FS St Louis) - I was told to call the concierge with any questions. Like breakfast hours at the restaurant, service hours of the spa. Equally annoying and inefficient.

Crummy pillows, paper thin walls and doors that slam shut.

Mine is people that stay at luxury hotels, and then complain how expensive they are.

my number one pet peeve for luxury hotels is not answering the phone when called.

let's assume that the hotel has done enough planning to realize why a customer may call, and has properly provisioned for it. after that, there is a long-tail of reasons why someone will call, and not having a live person answer the phone to resolve that as quickly and painlessly as possible is a big contribution to the customer experience.

My biggest pet peeve in luxury hotels is when the staff does not understand the language of service. There is a graciousness that is lacking in so many hotels these days and it really annoys me.

I think internet access should be free. I know it's an easy way to make another $20 - $30, but I would honestly be happier if the room rates were $20 - $30 higher and internet was "complimentary".

Charging me $20 for internet cheapens the experience and feels like nickle & diming.

Furthermore, at a luxury hotel I should have internet speeds that approximate what I have at home - i.e. Fast. It's aggravating to pay that $20 then get a slow connection.

Lastly, a luxury hotel should understand that some clients like me tend to lead connected lifestyles. Accordingly I typically have a laptop and an iPad that need to connect. I've been in hotels where that counts as 2 connections that need 2 separate payments.

And a separate shower should ideally have a handheld option in addition to the main showerhead.

Lack of privacy, neighbor or staff sees into your room through windows.
You can hear your neighbor through the wall.
Neighboring bedroom is wall to wall with yours and so are the beds.
