The death toll at Merapi is now well over 100. They are saying the latest erruption is the worst in over a century. So very sad.

" With regards to the Mt. Merapi’s increased activity, Amanjiwo temporary doesn’t expect to welcome guests since the volcano ash is approximately 15 cm covered the land, trees etc. As this is unpredictable we will keep you update for any further info."

I am not surprised as Borobodur is covered in thick acid ash again that could corrode the stones of the temple. Here's a report incl. pics (in German only):

Aman Sveti Stefan

It looks like further development at Sveti Stefan and the nearby properties will proceed following this news on financing the project :http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-1...an-resort.html

I took new fast train after they launched in the second day. Only a hour from Hangzhou to Shanghai city center.

Sorry to get too off-topic, but I had difficulty with this. The scene at the train station on Hangzhou was utter bedlam; the Amanfayun staff provided absolutely no help (besides chasing me inside and demanding payment for the car ride to the train station even though I had paid at the hotel when I checked out). When I finally got help from some friendly locals, we waited in a long line together to discover that there were no more seats available on any train that day. Luckily, our new friends helped us board a bus to Shanghai.

At the very least, I would advise making a reservation and otherwise planning ahead for this train.
