May -- Interalpen Hotel

TBH, I'm not sure if this place qualifies as luxury, exactly, but it is our favorite Alpine resort. It will be our first time back since before the pandemic.

Just completed my stay at The OWO. But a slight detour, arrived in Venice yesterday after the volcanic eruption forced The Retreat's closure. We are staying at Aman Venice.

Regarding Raffles The OWO, I will follow up with a proper review.

My initial impression is that it is a quality-luxury product that is finding its own personality/ rhythm against the other established and well-celebrated luxury hotels in London. Steeped in ww2 history ofcourse, but yet, not gimmicky as I feared might've been the case.

Butlers are not en masse here as with some Raffles. Butlers are mainly a complimentary service available to the suite categories.

More impressively, the hotel has 9 dining venues, with 12 when all are complete. I feared this would be overwhelming, but to my surprise, they've done a wonderful job at keeping each venue seperate and tucked away. We tried Cafe Laperouse Paper Moon, Saison & the Guard Bar, and Spy Bar. Although we weren't so lucky, they are soon opening Langosteria & 'Kioku by Endo' Omakase /Sushi concept by Endo Kazutoshi (formerly at the Rotunda) - said to have some of the best rooftop views in Londo. We found the dining to be pretty good, although, service was a bit inconsistent.

Adjacent to Corinthia, it's not your typical luxury property in Mayfair or Soho but Its location in Westminster has it's perks. The OWO brings something new to the area and easy access to iconic landmarks; Royal Horse Guards (across the street), Downing Street, Big Ben Buckingham Palace, St James's Park.

Doing a bit of a random trip the week after next:
Taj Mahal Palace Mumbai
Conrad Rangali Island, Maldives
Leela Palace, Bangalore

Time for some sun and foreign food before I settle down in Western Europe for the summer.

Tomorrow I'm headed for the Juma Opera Hotel in Manaus, Brazil. Seems like the most simpatico place in town and handy for the opera, just like the Imperial in Vienna. After that it's the Tivoli in Lisbon with a Silversea ship in between.
