It is downstairs still, but had to go up from the B60-62 bus gate complex, then walk a little bit, then back down. And the only way I knew was asking because I could see no interconcourse bus signs in the bus gate complex when I was dropped off from my remote stand. No signage at all until you get down to this "new bus complex".

And this brings me back to one of my earlier questions. Is it possible to walk from Bus arrivals at AEUW (LUX-FRA CRJ) to Terminal 2 (Gate D8) via the C gates (previous recommendation from NewbieRunner was to take the Skytrain landside from T1 I believe).
The FRA airport website tells me it is possible to walk it. I understand I'll have to clear security at some point (preference for just once at D8 though I realise this is unrealistic, so if not then the fastest security queue which would be an option in my case - Business ticket if it makes a difference), and of course I know I need to pass immigration somewhere (again, my preference would be to do this early so I move into non-schengen quickly). The ticket is a morning 6am departure from LUX, 2hr20min layover in FRA, before flying onwards to Muscat with Oman Air at some point between 10-11am (can't remember the exact time). And it's all booked under one ticket.
Thanks again

Connection from A Gates to C Gates
How would connection work from flight from Zurich (Schengen) that lands in A gates and the other flight departs from C gates to Tampa on Eurowings Discover. Will I have to go through immigration and then security or just security and no immigration. And will I have to go through security more than once if taking airtrain? Thanks for your help.

You can just exit landside from A, walk to C and do both security and passport control there.
Due to construction work the SkyLine service connecting Terminals 1 and 2 will be suspended between January 23 until probably March 5, 2023.

security and immigration (Schengen exit control), not sure which one first in C.
You would only go through security once when using Skytrain, after arriving in C. You arrive in A in the secure zone, but it's not possible to reach C without leaving it.
Note that Skytrain is currently not operating. There might be shuttle busses.

How much time would I need to connect on two separate tickets in July? I am flying SQ from JFK>FRA (which is already bought) and then onwards to AMS, probably on LH. I will have checked bags and will need to go landside to baggage claim and then recheck them. Is three hours enough? Or would it be better to have more?
I thought I'd need to be in FRA for a few days, but as it turns out, I don't. I can get the LH flight cheaply on points, so am considering this option. But am not married to it.

It very much depends on the weekday and hour. If I were you, I would consider 4h + average delay if I were you. Just to be on the safe side.
Take a look at your flight # history on a flight tracker app, e.g. FlightRadar. Place an educated bet on your average delay. Add this to 4h.
If you have a later connection, go for it.
But again, in ideal conditions, it happened for me to clear everything (exit+check-in+pass) in 1h (e.g. last week, a January [email protected]).
However, Mon or Fri 8-10 AM in July you might need 4h.
Good luck!

Anyway, there is no need to buy a FRA-AMS for July now. Most likely you are paying a premium this far out (o/w tickets with LH is also much more expensive than ½ return ticket).

I doubt anyone can say for sure.

Should be okay. AFAIK the SQ morning arrival from JFK is hardly never late, so there is a very high chance that you will have plenty of time at FRA to check-in and clear security. In case you miss the AMS flight it is not a disaster / it is affordable to buy a new ticket, and even if prohibitively expensive, jump on a train to AMS at FRA.

The only thing that might be a pain is that neither my wife and I can sleep on planes and we'll be in X on SQ, so I might simply just stay the night in FRA, as she's in her early 60s, me late 40s, so sleep deprivation is harder to recover from. We'll see...
Maybe the airport airside hotel coffin might be a good solution (I did that last year, I kid)

Actually, one follow-up question, if I might: if I fly SQ to LH, can I have my luggage interlined to AMS, even if I'm on two separate tickets? Or will I need to clear customs and re-check the luggage?

It very much depends on the SQ agents at JFK. It may be a "hit or miss". There is no obligation to do it when on separate tickets, but often /some agents will go the extra mile for you if you ask nicely.

Should be no problem, i have never been refused through checking of bags on *A & IME, LH & SQ are very good in this regard.
