The real question to you is how important an ontime arrival at TLV is. While you will be rebooked and taken care of and possibly compensated if a delay causes a misconnect, that has nothing to do with the consequences of arriving late.

As others note, the connection is doable, but has little tolerance for delay. Thus, if being late to TLV is a problem, this connection is a problem of varying degrees.

Thank you! Still seeking more details.

Thank you so much!

I am still going to investigate what gate(s) Austrian flies into from SUF and what gate(s) Austrian flies out of to TLV. I guess I am looking for steps? Get off plane at gate x, take escalator to floor y, go through immigration, find gate z...

Do you mean a layover from let's say ORD-EWR-TLV would take more time?

In theory I can afford to fly out a day later. So far on this five week trip I flew ORD-MUC-MRS for a week stay, yesterday I flew MRS-MUC-TLV (with a 1.5 h connection) and am in Jerusalem, I am flying TLV-MUC-SFU (with an overnight stay) on Sat only to return a week later on SFU-VIE-TLV. I am staying 87 km from SFU so that takes another 1h to my trip. I am returning to TLV-MUC-ORD on 16 June.

That is to say I already have a lot of long travel days ahead and unfortunately I still have jet lag!

As you are all OS conecting in VIE, will move this thread to the LH Group forum where you will find
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/luft...onnection.html

Addition in the Europe forum, you can find
50min Layover in Vienna Airport?

45 minutes at VIE for connection flight

if on time, doable even with 30min layover Schengen to Non-Schengen and other way around.

Do TLV travelers at VIE have to go through extra security screening (as they do for UA EWR-TLV flights, for example) or extra interviews at the gate?

I have an upcoming Lauda flight. I think the Schengen Jet lounge F, is better than C. But I am right in thinking its not possible to get to F is it, because of the separate terminal?

Thanks.

To answer for anyone checking this in the future. They're separate and you can't just walk between them. When you clear security it's immediately to the right, don't go upstairs. It's the same lounge used by Germanwings (Eurowings), Iberia and many others.

I found the Jet lounge to be very similar to the OS lounges. Same kind of food and drinks, all catered by that lets bow down to their wonderfulness Do&Co, but in fact, just like any caterer what you pay them is what counts. Whether thats Jet or OS they obviously don't pay them very much and the food is pretty crap.

Hot and stuffy lounge, just like OS, next to no power sockets, so just like OS. Poor seating, just like OS.

You can tell I've never really got the hype for VIE airport, I thought MUC is better! And lounges well, SEN and FTL are pretty rubbish.

Last time I was in the Schengen SEN, they had Gordon's gin or was it Finsbury...I mean, come on. Is that the best they can do?

What gates do OS schengen flights arrive into? I have googled to death but, while I can find the departing gate info I can’t find anywhere that tells me the arriving gates. I am flying VCE-VIE-LHR all OS so connecting schengen to non-schengen, departing to LHR it seems from G. Short-ish connection - 40 mins - but seems doable from what I have read on this thread. What gate area will the VCE-VIE arrive in to so I can map out where I have to go? Is there security or any kind of (schengen) exit passport control?

As this is where you leave schengen you will have to go through passport control

Non-Schengen are the G-Gates, they are on the upper level, 3. The same gates, but then on level 1 are the F-Gates, used for Schengen. So F3 is the same as G3 but accessed from another level of the pier.

Arriving F you follow the signs for G, walk down the corridor towards the terminal. Then go through passport control to leave Schengen and back towards the G-Gates.

There are also bus gates, arrival at ground level, then obviously you will go up through passport control to G.

Thanks. Seems like an easy airport to connect in from what I am reading here.

I'm considering one of the following:

1) SJJ-VIE-WAW
2) DBV-VIE-WAW

I'm assuming I would need to clear security before boarding VIE-WAW, but do I also need to clear passport control at VIE upon arrival? Does VIE immigration stamp passports if arriving from non-Schengen countries?

Thanks!

You will have to clear both security & border checks at Vienna and, no, you will not get any ink on your passport once in Austria, just a nice & shiny Sarajevo/Сарајево stamp here in Bosnia straight after security

That depends on the OP's passport. If s/he is travelling on a non-EU passport it should get stamped in VIE.
