upgrade on UA
This is a simple question, but the search fuction currently doesn't work.
How do I upgrade a UA leg with miles? M&M website says a certificate is necessary, but should I call UA first to check availibility, or can I do everything with M&M (check avail, request the certificate).
Also, do I have to call UA afterwards to book the upgrade?

see all booking classes.
If you can't be bothered, you can ring UA to check for the availability.
Also unlike on LH, UA has different inventory for Y->C upgrades and C awards, so
checking for the latter does not work.
Thanks to generous distribution of ug instruments on behalf of UA, I availability is really
bad on most flights. If you flew LH, LH, LOT, or OS, your chances would be
ways higher when it comes to a confirmed upgrade.
